The following is write up of a little table-top style roleplaying adventure the South Rubi-Ka Society is currently involved in. It is set in slums Omni Sewers and sees the Society, via one of its charities getting dragging into a web of mystery, drugs and corruption. This adventure is being played out using a mixture of in-game sessions, message board posts and private emails.

Act I

The trouble all started when members of the Society were informed about a brutal attack on one of the their charities; the Sanctuary Centre in Omni-Sewers. A message came from the centre's director, Emmett Gray. It read:

Dear friends of the South Rubi-Ka Society,

My name is Emmett Gray, I run a youth drug rehabilitation centre in Omni Sewers, the Sanctuary Centre. Last year you help us set up these facilities with your generous financial donations for which we shall be forever grateful. Unfortunately we find ourselves once again in great need your help. Last Thursday our centre was firebombed by a local gang. Thankfully no one was seriously injured, but the rehab centre was forced to close and our kids are back on the streets with their drug problems going untreated. It won't take long before all our work here will be completely undone.

Much as I hate having to impose on the South Rubi-Ka Society yet again, I would like to ask you to come see me here and verify for yourselves the extent of the damage and, if you see fit, talk about ways you could help us.

Sincerely
Emmett Gray

A meeting between Society representatives (Marog, Tappert and Nephilous) and Emmett Gray was arranged at the site of the burned the centre down. There Emmett explained that to help treat patients addicted to the latest generation of nano-formula drugs, the rehab centre had some very expensive equipment and that to get the centre up and running again would require a substantial amount of money, more than the Society would normally be able to raise. In an attempt to determine if anything were still salvageable, the party examined the burned out remains of centre. In doing so Marog noticed high concentration of notum where the fire had done most damage, suggesting that the flames may not have been caused by an ordinary petrol bomb. His curiosity piqued Marog took samples with him to examine in this lab.

ACT II

Suspecting this might have been more than just a random street gang attack and knowing full well Omni-Pol's tendency of turning a blind eye to anything that occurs in the Sewers, the Society determined it needed to investigate this incident in little more depth before investing more money into this project. Marog began to examine the samples in his laboratory. He learned that the fire was caused by a peculiar military grade nano-formula. Peculiar in that these nanobots did not use an external power source, such as an NCU belt but most likely drew their power from the users' own nervous system; a very dangerous practice almost certain to kill the host in the long run. Before a full examination could be completed however, parties unknown break into Marog's lab and removed all the evidence.

Meantime, Vallentia and Nephilous used their more streetwise contacts in Omni-Sewers to gather more information on the incident. They learned that while the Sanctuary Centre had never been popular among the various dealer and pushers, the mood changed for the worse over the 2-3 weeks. The whole dealer underworld in the Sewers had changed dramatically recently, due to the introduction of a new drug called "White Trash". "White Trash" , they learned, was being pushed aggressively in the Sewers, and only in the Sewers. It was being sold for next to nothing and "trashies" never seemed to get enough of it. Pretty much all the old dealers had switched to peddling "White Trash" or had gone out of business.

ACT III

In a meeting the Society discussed long and hard and how best to proceed. The decision was made to illegally acquire a sample of "White Trash" for Marog to analyse. Concerned about the implications of getting the Society involved in an illegal transaction, Savoy arranged to speak with the Society's lawyer, Mr Specchio. Mr Specchio advised that by the Society could legally acquire a sample of the drug by applying to Omni-Med for a licence to study it. The suggesting was taken aboard and shortly after Domu went with Specchio to Omni-Lab to meet Dr Salvador Braun to submit their application. At fist Dr Braun seemed quite co-operative. But at the mention of the name "White Trash" he grew anxious. He told Domu and Specchio that "White Trash" did not exist, it was just an urban myth and quickly departed.

The next day the body of Dr Salvador Braun was found floating on the Stret.

Act IV

Vallentia, exasperated by the lack of progress, decides to take matters in her own hands. If Marog needs a sample of "White Trash" to examine, she's the person to who can get it, without all this mucking about with lawyers and permits. Having grown up on the streets on Omni Sewers, she knows how to operate and who to talk to. Indeed this is her big chance to show the rest of the Society what she can do. So, without telling anyone else Val contacts a Omni-Sewers dealer who goes by the unlikely name of "Soggy Lettuce" and sets up a meeting. As a precaution she enlists Techisan, Nephilous and her old comrade Cammon to watch her back. And despite the odd violent "trashy" they encounter, the meeting goes off without a hitch and soon they are back in Omni Ent with a package of "White Trash". Now if only she can find a safe way to deliver this to Marog...

Meantime the Society is contacted by the Highrise Construction Consortium (HCC). Unaware of Val's initiatives, Heksa, Marog, Tappert, Specchio and Savoy meet with the HCC public relations director, Ms Trisha Fiore. She tells the party the Consortium is prepared to foot the bill of rebuilding the Sanctuary Centre as image exercise provided the centre is relocated in the slums in Omni-Forest. She explains that the HCC already has some basic facilities there which could be refurbished into a new drug rehab centre at a fraction of the cost of rebuilding the Omni-Sewers one. She also explains that, this being a public relations exercise, any sort of scandal associated with he centre would be a deal breaker. Other than that, the Centre would remain totally independent and stay under Emmett's Gray's full control. The Soceity ask for time to consider this offer and discuss it with Emmett Gray. Not entirely convinced by Ms Fiore's motives, Marog places a bugging device on her as she leaves the meeting.
