Confession time, patient enough for PBM, old enough to have played Troll Ball but only AO Levels 15 and 20.
Sometimes a mission is impossible and the sensible thing is to delete it and just request another mission.
Had one mission where I had to run straight at the doorway and if I was lined up perfectly I got past the Red NPCs that were killing me on sight. If I took too much damage inside and was forced back out the doorway I was creamed unless I had enough run speed out of the doorway, and just kept going, and going, and going. That mission looked impossible until I figured out the end run.
Another mission was impossible. I had been to the same location for two different missions with two similar level Nano Techs (PDP11 and Cyber6600). First time was difficult to get to the location due to high level NPCs that had to be avoided while the mission was completed. Weeks later it appeared as though some players had drawn high level NPCs to the area and the NPCs just parked themselves on the doorstep of the mission location. I was too low a level to use the grid and it used to take over 1/2 hour to walk there. I couldn't negotiate the door and change location before being killed. One or maybe two hits and I was dead with another 3/4 hour wasted. After 10 hours or it may have been 12 hours of absolutely no progress except for some very boring walks all I could do was delete the mission and try something achievable.
So my addition is:
Hit you head against a brick wall as many times as you like and if you feel better when you stop then go find another brick wall.
