Thread: Where are you from?

  1. #21
Is that near "The Hood"? I think I've been there.

To our friend from Buffalo, you are not alone in sports misery:

    1) 1985 World Series- Don Denkinger (sp) put a scar on my soul.

    2) University of Missouri Football- remember the infamous 5th down by Colorado the year they won the national championship?

    3) Same- remember the miracle catch by Nebraska in overtime?

    4) UM basketball- 1995- The full court dribble and lay up by UCLA with 4.2 seconds left to beat us by 1. UCLA went on to win the NCAA tour. (Got a little payback this year)

So if you see U of M on a highlight reel, we will always be the team getting beaten, just like that team which plays the Harlem Globetrotters.

Don't worry that it seems like everyone is from America or the northern parts of Europe. America's a big place - I don't know ANYBODY from California, nor could I just hop in my car and drive over there (well, not for several days anyway).

    Plus, they're weird over there.

    I am a Gauntlet Adventurer.

I strive to improve my living conditions by hoarding gold, food, and sometimes keys and potions. I love adventure, fighting, and particularly winning - especially when there's a prize at stake. I occasionally get lost inside buildings and can't find the exit. I need food badly.

And you want to talk sports trajedies? Have you ever seen the color of orange that the Tennesee Vols football teams sported in the mid to late 80's?

True, that was a little redemtion. I bagged work to go to city hall plaza but the Celtics did pay Reggie Lewis salary against the cap for 3 years after he was dead. And I can't think of another team that had two star players die withing a 10 year period. And don't get me started on the SOX.

And yes those Vols uniforms where quite possible one of the ugliest things in sports history...

I recently had the enjoyment of playing on a team in BS and I was the only one from the US. One was from Canada, one from Norway, one from Denmark, one from France, and the last from Japan. Everyone spoke English with little problems and we all had a great time!

yea, ive noticed that, lotsa texans in this game. I was in a team the other night, and someone asked where everyone was from, all replied, "dallas texas'.

Seemed kinda weird to have everyone from the same area.
