Clan authorities investigate suspected crime ring

    by McShifty

Clan authorities announced today that they have launched an investigation into a suspected organized crime family which has recently been discovered operating throughout Rubi-Ka.

This organization, which authorities say is known as The Mockers, seems to consist entirely of Fixers, a profession known for it's underhanded dealings and criminal activities. One highly placed source named the leaders of this gang of thugs as Ward "Frimen" Marone, Sena "Miel" Cicali and Cyril "Trellame" Croteau, all known felons in their own right. That these three are now working together, and have enlisted the aid of dozens of others, can only spell trouble for the honest citizens of Rubi-Ka.

When contacted by this reporter via commlink, Miel, who asked to be referred to as "The Don," claimed that she was nothing but a legitimate businessperson being wrongly accused and slandered. "Please, take a look through our records," she said. "you'll see that we have nothing to hide. Our operation consists entirely in the transportation of perfectly legal goods around the clan territories."

While attempts have been made to detain the suspects, officials say that their incredible speed and ability to disappear almost instantly to some far-flung corner of the planet has so far made questioning them impossible. When contacted, Trellame claimed that he was more than willing to report to Tir for an interview, and that claims by authorities to the contrary were merely a "smoke screen being used to further these baseless charges being levied against us."

Especially disturbing is the involvement of Frimen, a criminal known to have murdered a fellow clansman in broad daylight on the crowded plaza in front of Fair Trade in Tir. At the time, Frimen was heard to comment "That'll teach him to keep his mouth shut."

Clan authorities also suspect the group of being involved in the smuggling of high-value merchandise between clan and Omni-Tek controlled territories. The possible development of a planet-wide ring, which operates on all sides of the conflict with impunity, has law enforcement officials even more worried.

The current lack of cooperation between Omni and clan authorities has stymied attempts to gather evidence of the suspected link between The Mockers and an Omni-Tek aligned group, Shadow Company. However, some evidence was gathered in Newland on Tuesday of a possible rendezvous between Trellame and Shadow Company leader Candice "Nettie" Kerans.

Officials promise that the investigation will continue.
