    Exclamation Buzzword: Dust Brigade

Hm, I suppose that this will be an interesting thread.

After my GVRK press release on the Tir Accord and all that legal mumbo-jumbo, I recieved a flood of response from within GVRK and from all sides. First of all, to clarify points, I never said that GVRK never violated the TA (though we have done so no more than any other faction - in fact, Baxie flamed us for violated the TA and then cheered TBA's capture of an "ICC Humanitarian Rep" in CLAN territory, but that is beside the point). Secodnly, I never stated that we would team with Omni. The TA states that Omni-Pol forces investigate with an escort from a Council-affiliated clan, from the Clan point of view to keep the Omnis from violating laws.

    But to the main points.

    1) At the meeting at Reet Retreat last month, many of us verbally agreed to join together (in vague terms, to search for) the Dust Brigade. Towards the end of this meeting, GVRK proposed a signed paper to this effect, not an alliance, but a mutual support agreement in our search. Royr dismissed this motion, and that was accepted. Most organizations carried out personal sweeps of all areas.

    2) My proposal here is of a different nature.

For most Omnis, the DB is somehow "affiliated" with the Council of Truth (I've seen evidence of this range from "Their base (of unknown location) is located in Clan territory" to "The scanners show that they are Clan", which means nothing regarding their relation to CoT).

For Clans, the view is much more split. The CoT line is that DB is evil and should be stopped. Some clans cheer them on from a distance, others seek to support them. To each his own - that is the nature of the Clans. We are not a single group by any measure.

HOWEVER, I would like a formal and calm discussion of the facts. Let us get away from wild and baseless accusations and throw down some thought.

After a DB attack on MMD (where I was killed by Omni soldiers while trying to help them fight the DB - big mistake on my part), I followed their transport craft into PW, and spent the next few days combing PW and Mort for any signs. Following their trajectory, one conclusion is that they escaped to the Outzone, or a number of the small, seemingly abandoned fortresses in PW or Mort.

Now, do we know of any organizations that can rival Omni-Tek's power and resources, and be able to survive in the Outzone? Not to single out an individual organization and say they are guilty (as Omni-Tek does), what about Sol Banking Corporation?

SBC HAS had a history of scaled up conflict with Omni-Tek on a galactic scale. SBC gains rights to mine notum in 24 years, and benefits from deconstructing OT. SBC has been accused by Omni-Tek of starting outposts in the Outzone. SBC has fought a joined Clan and Omni-Tek force, united against their incursion. SBC has the will, the bankroll, and the technology to launch something like this - the Clans hardly have the organization and resources to invade Meetme Dere, much less break up the gas zones and teleport around buildings instantly.

Hell, you might even want to look at those "Advisors of Rubi-Ka" people. They teleport around everywhere and have great powers... they help all of us from time to time, and I would never implicate them with being behind the attack on a leet, much less citizens, but what if their technology... what do they call it again? ... what if it got out? What if someone else developed it?

It simply points to some anti-Omni, perhaps anti-everyone, group of terrorists.

Maybe they are Clan freedom fighters fighting against the very thing you are doing against the orders of the Council.

Maybe they are Council is running them in secret.

Maybe Omni-Tek is running them in secret as an excuse to the ICC to level Tir and prevent the lease from expiring via armed force.

Maybe it is another corporation trying to edge in on the end of the lease.

Maybe it is a group of nutballs who got their hands on technology that they shouldn't have.

Pool our thoughts here - thoughts beyond the usual "They IDed Clan" or "They attacked us first" bull****.

Well, it seems they have gone back into hiding. To my knowledge they have done nothing except pick off a saved guild leader here and there since their attack on Omni-1. I've certainly seen no evidence of terrorism from them of late.

That SBC is behind the dust brigade, are not something new, they have been so for eyars, and everyone know it.

I would like to ask you, how do you think we should find them, when we are shot at when we enter neutral araes, like MMD??

Tell that to Baxie. GVRK's press release on being willing to escort Omnis in searching for DB (something we agreed upon at LFD's meeting at Last Ditch last month) was met with threats and insults (actually, the same ones Baxie used at that meeting in blaming the Clans).

The Clans are not organized or united in any way, and the words of one have very little bearing on each other. There are ****wits on both sides who don't seem to fully understand the history and social circumstances of the Clans and Omni-Tek. I will defend our Clan land and the rights of people on Rubi-Ka, but that extends to stopping organizations like the Sol Banking Corporation's more aggressive incursions and the Dust Brigade, related or not. While entering into combat with Omnis may be excessive for some members in our organization, I would personally spend time with Omni employees in searching and building proof.
