Thread: The Ylem Twins - Betrayal, Murder, Agents

    The Calm Before the Storm

    August 14.29471 RST

"This is not right!" the man slammed his fist against the table getting the attention of the two young twins and his wife. They immediately looked to him.

"What is it?" the wife asked of him quickly.

"Love, listen to this: 'August 14.29471 RST. News Flash! The Tir Accord seems to be holding though a cross-fire was reported between the two sides. Early reports show that Omni-Tek invaded into a small outpost trying to *reclaim* what is *rightfully* theirs. If such actions continue, war may start up again.' What right do they have to do such a thing!"

"Maybe they should not have taken the land in the first place?"

The father quickly turned and rose to his feet looking to one of his daughters. He knew who it was, Ylemmae, the younger of the two by one minute nicknamed Lem. The other, Ylemae, Lemmy, quickly followed her sister's words seeing the anger in her father's face. "It's getting late, we need to get to bed..."

Thankfully, the Mother spoke before Lem had a chance to respond. "Yes, it is late and young girls need their sleep!" she looked fiercely at Lem with a 'don't-say-another-word-about-this' type look before turning back to her husband. "Hun, why not sit back down and I'll make you a drink."

Both girls in unison replied with a simple "Yes Mom" and hurried off to their rooms in the apartment. The father was still clearly upset about what had happened and now even more infuriated that his youngest had seemed to think it was alright that it did happen. They heard before they closed the door to their room the Father speak out: "Ross wants nothing more than to control the entire planet! He's a dictator, and I am sick of working for him!"

"Lem." Hearing the voice Lem quickly snapped up to her feet and looked to the door that had opened. "You look distracted, something the matter?"

She shook her head quickly. "No sir. Just thinking about the past. Nothing important."

"Good. Director Loria wishes to speak with you now." the secretary spoke walking out of the door.

Lem nodded and entered the room. She had been here many times before, the underground facility built under the sewage system of Omni-1. She hated it every time, but understood the need for secrecy. The unofficial official Department of Omni-Pol: Immediate Solution. To anyone else a message from the IS and Loria would seem to be some corporate low-level supervisor within the Department of Internal Services. But to those of the Immediate Solution, they knew otherwise. Their mission was simple: To eliminate any and all threats, whether potential or real, to Omni-Corp without having the company officially involved. Loria handled all affairs and responded only to Ivan Sergeyitch, who in turn only responds to CEO Ross.

The man sat at his desk, nodding to the chair in front of it for her to sit down. Upon doing so, he spoke but one simple word: "Report."

Immediatly Lem began her oral report. "A group of individuals within the Entertainment District of Omni-1 has spoken against Omni-Corp as a whole and publicly agree that the clans might have a right to what they are trying to do. However, they seem to favor CEO Ross as a leader and have said they would never follow Radiman. Even with Radiman's death, I do not believe that they would do anything. Thus, I recommend they be watched and left alone."

Loria folded his hands together placing his elbows up on the desk listening to her. "Continue."

"A man designated as Kokoda, we have his full name and records on-file, is also a dissident against Omni-Corp. I ran into him recently, and upon talking with him for a short while, he was not hessitant to voice his displeasure."

    "Is he a threat?"

"Well..." Lem thought about this a moment before shaking her head. "He has said he has no one in the universe. He is all alone and would like to keep it that way."

Loria rubbed his chin silent for a moment in thought before answering. "That means he would not goto the clans but a man with nothing to lose only has everything to gain."

"Yes Sir. I do not think though him possible of terrorist actions, however."

"And what leads you to this conclusion?"

"He seems to be a man who just wants to survive. He does not care about life. He only cares about where his next meal is or what he's going to do in the evening once the day is over."

    "What do you recommend then?"

    "Nothing. Leave him be."

"Very well." he let out a sigh and then nodded to her. "Anything else?"

"Yes. A Nita Insegeli was planning a strike within Rome Green. I need someone to find the remains of a Nita Insegeli in a place not su****ious, preferrably her own apartment, as at the last moment before she decided to do so she committed suicide cancelling off her death insurance."

"Suicide. How convenient." he said with a smile.

"Normal procedures applied. Manipulation of data within our cloning databases and then the kill."

    "Via, which means?"

"A small amount of poison indicted into her drink."

"Poison?" he raised his right eye-brow. "You love the old methods of murder don't you?"

"Murder? Lil ol' me?." she spoke in a very childish manner smiling charmingly at him. Immediately she broke into a small set of giggles as Loria responded with a chuckle or two of his own before responding to her.

"That makes now three suicides within the last two months Lem. I would advise you to try and not to draw any more attention to yourself over the next couple of weeks. Deputy-Director Zhen of the Internal Services is already su****ious of the last one you finished off, and you need to pay more attention to the work there."

"The Internal Services? Such a boring job."

"Boring perhaps, but without it I could not send you messages bearing the IS symbol."

    "I understand."

"How old are you now? Fifteen? Sixteen?"

"Fifteen Sir, I turn sixteen soon enough though." she said with an affirmitive nod.

"You grew up too quickly Lem. They may see your absence as childish behavior and tell you to come back when you've matured."

Lem rose to her feet and stood at attention. "Is there anything else Sir?" she asked, not liking where this questioning is going.

    "No. You are dismissed."

She sent to him a salute, then walked out of the room quickly and handing over to the Secretary any data files of her progress.

The door shut, and Loria sat at his desk before turning his chair around. A panel in the wall fell loose, as a younger man stood there and walked over to the chair Lem sat in moments ago.

"She is no traitor I assure you." the younger man spoke to Loria.

"I do not know what to think. She is not a traitor, yes, I agree with you. Any person who can do what she did to her family at such a young age would not betray us."

"I have not heard the full details about that Sir."

"Because you do not need to know them. She's one of the best operatives I have, and has an advantage over the others."

    "An advantage Sir?"

"Yes, she is young. She can use her youth to get others to speak words they would not normally speak. However..."

"I am telling you Sir. Despite the evidence we found, it was not Lem who hacked into the General Shop of Rome Blue."

"One hundred thousand credits stolen. It is a good thing Deputy-Director Schoel authorized the immediate transfer of credits to the owner in the amount stolen. No news of the theft was publicized so our strength was not weakened. Director Sergeyitch
    wants this criminal found, however."

    "So he believes your report?"

"It seems to be so for now. Sub-Director Ongenkov, I want you to find out why all our evidence points to Lem. Someone must be impersonating her. For why? How much does that person know? More importantly, of us?"

"I understand Sir. Though if I might speak freely..."

    "You may."

    "Why not ask her?"

"I like to keep my options open... and if it is indeed Lem, I rather not have her know we are on to her."

    "I understand Sir."

"Good. Then I'll you be off to your duty."

    A Night Never Forgotten

    August 14.29471 RST

"Ross wants nothing more than to control the entire planet! He's a dictator, and I am sick of working for him!"

"Lem..." Lemmy spoke her sister's name just as she shut the door. "Why do you insist on causing trouble?"

Lem did not turn to face her sister for a moment. At first, she leaned against the door trying to hear from the other side, but all that came to her ear was silence. It had appeared the mother had calmed him down a bit, and his yells had ceased. After a moment or two of silence, she looked to her and shook her head.

"Me? Our father is the one that is looking to cause trouble sis."

"He's dad!" Lemmy stomped her foot against the ground then waved her hand in front of Lem as she spoke. "Why can't you try and listen to him for a change!"

Lem's hand rose up and her palm connected with Lemmy's cheek, the force of the slap staggered Lemmy backwards as she felt tears swelling into her eyes. She rubbed her cheek, feeling the heat of the swat. "ME?! What about YOU sis?! Never goto class like you are supposed to, always getting into some trouble with our proctors, then coming home and lying about it to our parents! Who are YOU to tell ME how to act?!"

Lemmy fell to her knees on the floor, then cried openly. She did not know if the tears came from the slap or her sister's harsh words. She felt a hand rub against her back, and buried her head into her sister's arms as they wrapped around her. "Shh... it's okay sis... I'm sorry."

Slowly Lem rocked her sister back and forth, neither said a word for a few minutes. It was Lemmy who broke the silence. "I... want to make mom and dad happy... I do..."

"You do sis. With all your mishaps, when you come home, the smiles shine from their faces."

    "Same with you too..."

"You saw father's look this evening. He does not smile when he sees me."

    "Well... you did provoke him..."

Lem pulled her sister away and looked directly into her sister's eyes. The tears had partially stopped, the stains of them still apparent. "Look sis... I want us to forget about this. Tomorrow let us both skip our classes and go out, alone... together."

Lemmy was taken back by these words. "But tomorrow is my database class... and since when did you ever skip?" The one thing that she had enjoyed learning to do. She did not care about politics, ethics, social behavior patterns, the history of Rubi-Ka, Sol... but when it came to this... she felt it was something she could actually put to use, the usage of computers.

"Come now sis. You spend enough time on that, and since I haven't missed any classes before they won't mind will they?"

    "But..."

"I got a plan for a great day ahead of us." she continued on ignoring Lemmy's reluctance. "I want to do something... special... truly special for our parents. Do something so that... tomorrow... will be a day they never forget..."

Lemmy didn't know what her sister was talking about, but she had learned to trust her. Being a minute older it was almost as if Lemmy was actually three years younger. She knew her sister was the strong one, the smart one. She was just the charming one, which came in useful whenever one of Lem's plans failed and they ended up in trouble. Yet, she knew to listen to her sister for she knew what she was doing.

    "What about it Lemmy?"

    "'Kay. Let's do it then."

"First, we must sleep, and let the evening pass."

Lem took her sister's hand in her own, squeezing down on it softly.

    "WHAT THE...?!"

Lemmy's hand was jerked up from underneath the table. "Hey barkeep, looks like you got a rat in this place!" From her hand she came full in view, fighting to break free from his strong grip. "Girlie, you better start talking... and fast..."

She knew that she should have stopped trying to find something of value on him after checking his left pocket and finding nothing. Yet, if there was nothing in one pocket something had to be in the other... if only she had known the man felt something brush against his left side only a moment before and because of it looked to his right.

Lemmy quickly put on the look of fear, she continued to struggle though to no avail. "P... please... sir... I was just... looking for something to eat..."

The barkeep had come over and looked to the girl turning to the soldier. "Should I call the guards?"

The man did not answer the barkeep and instead continued to focus on the girl. "How old are you?"

"I... I'm..." she looked petrified stuttering over the words. "... ten... sir..."

The soldier turned to the barkeep. "Guards? Nah. I think I can handle this." he turned back to her. "Ten neh? Ten seems too small, how about we increase that to twenty?"

"T... twenty?" her look of fear turned to that of confusion. Twenty? What did that mean?

The answer to her confusion came quick. "Yes, twenty hard swats I think would be appropriate. Maybe that would teach you not to try and steal from other people..."

"Well, looks like you have this under control." The barkeep snickered and turned away from the two.

The soldier rose to his feet, pulling up Lemmy off the ground completely. He let go quickly as she fell to her feet and he stumbled over in pain. Her knee had came up and delivered a blow squarely into his gut. The barkeep whirled back around hearing the noise and reached out for her. "You're going to regret doing that..."

The soldier groaned in pain and she knew he was no threat. She quickly leaped underneath the table, and as the barkeep reached under she kicked hard against his hand. It was as if he had placed his hand into a mousetrap, the blow driving his hand directly against the bottom of the table. He snapped it back, holding it with his other. One of the other patrons looked over to the commotion, then gave chase to her as she bolted from under the table out the nearest door.

    "GUARDS! GUARDS!"

She could hear him scream out from behind, but she did not turn to look. She turned down an alley, hiding against the shadows she saw the men rush pass where she had turned into at. She looked around the alley, a dead end. After waiting a few minutes, she looked out from the darkness and saw nothing. She listened, yet heard none of the voices and none of the guards. Stepping out away from the alley she sighed and walked on.

"Just another day..." she thought aloud.

What Happened After (Part 1 of 2)

    August 15.29471 RST

Loria smiled, clasping the ten-year old Lem on the shoulder. The vehicle took away the older sister in the mid-morning light. "You did very good child. Your parents were traitors to the Company, and if you had not warned Internal Security about it they might've endangered your future."

Lem smiled up at him. Somehow... she didn't feel all that bad about what she did hearing his words. "What of Lemmy?"

He frowned. "I'm sorry Jacelyn But we can not have it both ways. Either she takes the fall for this, or you. Which one will it be?"

She looked to the ground, then nodded to Loria. "I understand, if it must be her or I... let it be her."

A huge smile broke across his face as he patted her on the shoulder. "Come come! I made a promise to you that I intend on keeping. However... it will take a couple years you know, the training is not easy."

A bargain made for her future. While she was to be inducted into a special private agency of the Omni-Corporation, a high honor, her sister would be arrested and most likely executed. Though she knew Loria would have her killed long before there was any trial, being a juvenile he could take no chances with the courts. But a future... something her parents had threatened to take away from her... well, now she had done that to them. And at that time... it felt good to be in control of her own destiny for once.

"I understand. Do not worry, I will work hard for you Mister Loria. I will not let you down..."

He smiled leading her away from the scene. "Good. I shall arrange the training to begin at once then. But certain things must take place first..."

    "Transfer of identity?"

Loria chuckled. "No no, you can keep that. We just need to make sure you are officially under our jurisdiction. Then, we forge a document here and there, arrange for a 'private tutoring' instead of your classes... after all, with today's incident you were too terrified to return back to public for awhile..." he winked at her.

"I understand. But what of after training?"

"Then the hard part begins. We need to get you a job within the Internal Security of Omni-Corp. All agents, including myself as you know, use that as a cover. It is our way to communicate with each other. Being young, I doubt you could get any real job but... we'll see what we can do in a few years. Now, let's go show you your trainer for the Immediate Solution..."

BAM! Lemmy charged against the door with no luck, ramming in such force it actually brought her to tears. She wondered how it had come to this... she had always trusted her sister and now, she betrayed her. Worse... she knew, she had betrayed her own parents. If it wasn't for her knowledge of the Omni-Corp's database... she would never have left the door open for Lem to cancel her parent's insurance. Inwardly, she couldn't help but be proud that the only one thing she knew how to do she knew how to do well... but she did not feel too proud of herself at the time.

The door opened, and in entered a tall Solitus wearing the Omni-Pol uniform. He looked at the crying child, then the door, then back to the child with a laugh. "I wouldn't recommend doing that again Miss..."

    "Lemmy..." she responded.

The Officer looked at her raising a brow and read from his report. "Jiselle Waldram, Lemmy you say? What kind-of nickname is that?"

"Was a secret of me and my sis..."

He shrugged. "I don't care to be honest child. What you did would normally have been call for immediate execution. Hacking and tampering with internal Omni-Tek's files is a very high crime. What's more, we could charge you with a double count of murder, as your tampering led to the permanent deaths of..."

Lemmy immediately broke out into tears. She knew, all too well, her parents were gone forever. She was the cause of this... not Lem. The feeling made her sick.

"Now now child... I know you might not've meant for it to happen. But you caused it to be that way, and now you must face the consequences of your actions."

She could barely hear him over the noise of her crying. She felt miserable. Part of her wished that this officer would do her a service and just kill her right then and there. At least, she could be with her parents again...

"Jiselle, stop this crying. We are to escort you to your hearing. Now be a good girl and just come with us."

Another officer entered the room. The two of them led her out into a large vehicle, and rode into the city. They threw her in the back, while they sat in the front. Whether by some miracle or maybe God had decided to stop her suffering... Lemmy found a glimmer of hope. It appears the guards had not thought she'd do anything rash, and let the back door unlocked.

Thump thump thump... Out went the door and down she went. Her arm hurt excruciatingly upon landing, travelling at high speeds. She bounced and rolled but then finally came to a stop. The vehicle still roared ahead, oblivious to the missing 'cargo'.

Looking around the city, she had no idea where she was. She had never gone anywhere without her parents, so how was she supposed to know? At least it wasn't so early in the morning, and there were other people about. Most saw her as a rat that crawled out of the sewer, just shoving her aside where as others disregarded her completely.

"Please... sir, I need some help..." GET AWAY FROM ME!

"Please... sir, I need your help..." Hey lookie here guys, I didn't know rats grew so big!

"Please... sir, please..." a kick to the side. I don't have any creds for your addictions!

    "Please..."

Finally, someone stopped to speak to her. Though he did not chastise, insult, or hit her. He bent down on his knees so he was at eye level. By now, Lemmy's clothes had accumulated some mud and dirt and she really did look like she had come from the sewer, minus the smell. Lemmy normally would have been scared of this man... tall with a long scar that protruded from his right arm. One of his eyes were missing and was wearing a hat to cover his bald spots. Yet, at this moment, she realized that nothing worse could happen... could it?

"Well now what we have 'ere..."

"Please..." Lemmy cried to him a second time.

"Please?" The man asked curiously but did not wait for an answer. "What, you lost from your ma and pa?"

Lemmy sniffed, the truth of it still was unbearable to think about. "No... they died... Lemmy now alone..."

    "Lemmy? Wassa Lemmy?"

"I am Lemmy sir... please help Lemmy... please..."

The man studied her for a moment. 'This girl looks like no thief... he thought to himself '... that is one thing I can be sure of yet... well, who cares? She needs my help and I can't just let ignore her...'

"Very well then... Lemmy. I tell you what, I was on my way to the shop not too far yonder off and if you'd like you can come with me and I can see 'bout getting you some new clothes eh? By the way, name's Jerl Inciwitz."

Immediately Lemmy was off the floor and actually hugging the man, taking him by surprise. He pushed her off wiping off his clothes. "Yuck... none of that mooshy stuff ya 'ear? Now just stick close to me and we shall see what we can do for ya."

The man was kind. He bought Lemmy some new clothes, to which she quickly dispersed of her old ones figuring to leave what happened behind. With a smile she thanked the man, but he did not leave her just yet.

"Look, I talked with the owner 'bout you. He said he'd let you sleep here for the night, so you can cope with your loss. In the morn he'd said he'd look over the network to see if he can find any family still left alive. So be good and don't give the man any trouble you 'ear?"

She nodded, then hugged the man again. He let her do it this time, but didn't return the hug. She didn't mind. The shop was pretty big, the owner said she could explore but not to touch any of the computers, as those were for the customers to use so they could purchase and order their merchandise.

The day passed slowly after the first hour. She quickly found there was nothing special by these shops, now realizing why her mom had always done the shopping. Everything was computerized, there wasn't anything to even look at without an account number. The least the owner could have done is let her look at some of the stuff he had. She yearned for her own com, though Omni-Pol had deactivated her NCU chip when she was detained and without it she could not plug herself into the network. 'What's the point of having something stuck in your head if you can't use it?' she pondered... thinking about how un-fair that was to pass the time. It was not till her fourth hour there did she knew something had to change... and fast...

An Omni-Pol Officer had entered the shop. She did not know it at first... but when the Officer introduced himself to the shop-keeper as "Officer Lieutenant" and what-ever his name was, she didn't catch that part as she clammored quickly to see the guard.

"Yes, a horrible incident if you saw the newsfeeds. But right now it's just local news, the Omni Herald doesn't care about this type of story and that's fine by us. The sooner we can put an end to this the better. Worked for almost all his life with the Corporation and then turned renegade."

Renegade... fear coursed through her body once again. They were talking about her father.

"Well now, yes it is sad news, but how can I help?"

Lemmy looked right then left. The door was blocked and there was no exit. If only she had a com... something... she knew she hacked the Omni-Tek's database once if she could just do it again... make herself not Jiselle Waldram. But such tools needed to do so... would take an Officer's access... an...

"Oh yes actually! There was a girl that came in here, poor thing looked a mess. She's in the back area. Name? No sorry, you'll have to identify her when you get there I didn't ask. Didn't think it was a problem."

"Alright, I'll go find her then. Thank you Citizen."

The officer began to head into the back room of the shop. Lemmy knew what must be done, but wondered if she had the time to do it? Sure the only thing she ever focused on in her lessons was computers but at the age of ten to do this?

Lemmy popped out of one of the computer terminals, and stuck out her tongue at the officer. "Hide and seek! You it!" she called to him then bolted behind a row of terminals.

"Need help?" the shopkeeper came up behind the Officer.

"That's alright Citizen, get back to your work. Kid can't hide forever."

"I'll be in the back, have to process next week's shipping orders. If she gives you any trouble do call."

Lemmy made a note to thank the Officer later for thinking she was just a child. Well... she was. But a child can do things that adults can't do... surprise someone.

"Alright, please come out and don't make me come looking for you. If you are Jiselle, then make it easy on yourself." Silence. "No? Alright then, though I'm not going to be happy when I find you."

What Happened After (Part 2 of 2)

The Officer looked up and down the rows. Bending down he checked under the terminals and... nothing. He headed to the left where the most terminals were held, the design center. Here was stored the tools for implant-design, weapon-design, and the like. Due to the sheer amount of combinations he figured she would have ran here, where there was more places to hide.

First row... the Officer checked across then scooped down to look under. And... nothing. He took a step to the right for the next row. Once again he looked across then under and... nothing. Third, fourth, fifth... all nothing. The Officer smiled, this was the last row. He looked across and saw nothing then looked under to... WHAM!

The Officer fell backwards landing against the wall and then falling face-first on the floor. Lemmy's kick to the face didn't cause any damage at all but he had hit the wall head-first, and laid on the floor out like a light. She wondered how much time she would have. This was usually Lem's job... to contrive up a plan and have every step mapped out to insure success. The only good Lemmy ever was in her plans was the fact that she had a charming smile to lessen the punishment when caught... and she could use the computers pretty well to do things otherwise impossible for just Lem alone. She did have enough sense to check the main area of the shop first, the owner did not hear. Also, no customers were inside... so luck worked both ways then... when it was bad it would only get worse but when it was good it would only get better. Not wanting her luck to end so soon, she quickly searched the Officer.

First thing she realized she must do is re-activate her NCU. Taking out the strange metallic rod she saw one of the other Officers use on her earlier she pointed it at her head. Nothing. Examining the object, it seemed her luck was over. There must've been at least five buttons and switches on this thing... and she didn't even know which was which. Mind as well try them all right? The first switch she wished she never pressed, as an electrical field came out almost knocking her unconscious. She staggered under the pain, biting her lower lip as hard as she could to not cry out though tears came to her eyes. With great hesitancy, she pressed the second button.

Scanning.... scanning.... scanning.... she almost dropped the device she was so surprised. But then remember this is what happened before... it was scanning for her NCU! NCU Found. Deactivated. ID = Jiselle Waldram. Age 10. Warrant for Arrest. She looked over to the Officer and pulled out his com. She knew these were expensive, personal private coms that were made to travel. Few jobs allowed one to carry these, Omni-Pol was of course one as they had to track criminals, clanners, etc... She opened it up then jacked it into one of the nearby outlets in the wall. The net was easy enough to find, she had done so many times but it appeared it would not be so easy to hack into Omni-Tek's main site as last time. A new password was prompted, and access denied. Wait...

Scanning.... scanning.... scanning.... NCU Found. ID = Lieutenant Zack Loden. Age 38.

She keyed in the name of the Guard next to her into the computer, bringing up his personal files. She felt at home again, doing what she liked to do best. It only used to be a game between her and Lem... the only thing she did win at... but now this game was for real and must be won against itself.

Omni-Pol Services. Please key in your destination.

Success! She'd found his log-in codes and was connected to Omni-Pol itself. But where to now? Identification Records...

Error. Unknown command found. Try again?

Unknown error? She looked at the com in disbelief, she knew that had to be it. Wait... examining the metallic rod she found a plug at the bottom. Looking over the com she connected it to the machine then scanned over her head again, making sure to press the second button.

Back-tracking Lemmy erased her old record of Sirlia and re-entered it again. This time... upon doing so she could not help but have a wide smile at the results. She had tricked the machine into thinking the year was ten years earlier than it was! Her age now came out to be ten, which was perfect. Just to make sure, she scanned her own NCU again to see the results.

Scanning.... scanning.... scanning.... NCU Found. ID = Sirlia Inciwitz. Age 10.

Perfect! After a few more button pressing she found the one to re-activate her NCU. She looked to the guard then to the tool. She had figured to change herself somehow and try to act innocent but now... with this device she could change at any time she wanted to! This was too good a prize to give up... so taking the com she smashed it into the wall, shattering it into pieces. But the Rod... she hid it safely behind one of the terminals, making a note to come back later for it.

"Officer... Officer!" she yelled to him, shaking his body. "Please wake up! Don't be hurt please!"

The Officer stirred awake, rubbing his head. Upon regaining senses he snatched at the girl's arm and held it fast while the other still rubbed his head. "You kicked me!"

Lemmy put up the illusion of a struggle but had no intentions of doing so. "Please Officer! You fell and hit your head, you need some help!"

The Officer groaned slightly. He knew she was right. But I'm going to fist make sure this isn't her... wait... where'd it go? Checking around it looked as if he was covered in ants.

    "Sir... you okay?"

His face suddenly fell. It wasn't in his pockets or on his waist but he could see the machine destroyed on the floor. Must've broken when I fell...

"Well... look's like I can't identify you here. Let us go outside so I can find someone who can."

Dragging her out of the shop, he didn't need to, Lemmy was trying to walk pretty fast to keep up. Another Officer on Patrol saluted him, he saluted back. It took but a moment for the scan to reveal she wasn't the one they were looking for. He asked if she could just head back inside by herself, as he needed to head to the main facility in order to pick up new supplies that broke when he fell. She nodded and retrieved her wonderful new toy from the shop, thanking the owner the next day for a place to stay.

Fingering the device as she walked she made a lie to herself. "Mom and dad are just on vacation and Lem's away on a trip, tomorrow they will come home." To complete the lie, she headed to an insurance terminal hooking in the device of hers. Omni-Pol got free insurance, so why not her? She allowed the machine to extract her coding, over-riding the safety procedures. She realized it was so much easier to hack into something using Omni-Pol's tools than it was her own, as a day ago it took her going through five walls of code to give her access.

From then on Lemmy only cared about getting to the next day. Finding the next meal. Just waiting one single day for her parents to come home, changing her identity every so often. Sometime in the first year an accident happened, and Lemmy found that she was glad she gave herself some insurance. While trying to steal one day a gun-fight opened up within the bar between the clans and omni-tek catching her in the cross-fire. However, the technology had a strange effect. They warn and caution about death insurance with anyone of a younger age though she paid no heed to them. Her soul shifted from her old body to her new... but the new body was old! The machine did not update itself, didn't save her code as it was supposed to. In fact, it actually had worked backwards! Her one and a half years after ten had vanished and she had actually became younger by the same amount! Lemmy couldn't help but smile. Perfect, she thought. She had wanted to believe it was just a day but as she got older she began to find that harder to believe. Now, her body was smaller than ever, and she could believe herself to be more of a child once again. Lem always said I acted immature for my age anyhow so now maybe my mind actually caught up with my body? If so, that's not a bad thing at all! No classes. No nothing. Only waiting for the next day... just the next day...

The next day she hoped would come very soon. Though nothing would happen to either sister until after she had turned ten once again and Lem had turned fifteen... after five years of that fateful day.

    What Happened Before

    August 13.29471 RST

"Comfortable little one?" the man walked into the office with the girl sitting in a chair across from his desk.

"I have a name, it's Lem..." the girl piped up from behind the chair.

He seemed to ignore her, sitting down at his desk. A minute passed, and another... and another. The man went through the files laying at his desk. Lem took the time to look around a bit with her eyes. A small room, the door read: Loria, Lead Rumor Control OP-IS. Internal Services. The note she had sent to them about her parent's possible rebellion came back with a note saying... If you send us another false report about possible Clan treachery you will be sent to a Military School for Juvenile Delinquents. Some help they are. For the past week all her father could talk about was the un-fairness of Omni-Corp. Every night, same thing. But then... a day or two later another letter came to her bearing the IS mark. At first, a sense of dread came over her. Maybe they had decided not to wait... but the letter contained no reference to any of the sort.

    Jacelyn Waldram,

Your message has been recieved and we thank you for informing us of any treachery to our family in Omni-Corp. Unfortunately, your parents could bring upon you great harm. When they defect, and yes trust me they will I have dealt with people like this, you will be ruined. Either you will be sent to a reform school for clan children, which I once again can say trust me you will not enjoy it one bit, or killed off entirely. If you care about your future at all, come to my office one day from now. Make a lie up to your parents that you have a project for School you must stay after to do so they will not suspect anything. Make your choice, but make it fast.

    Sincerely,
    Loria OP-IS Rumor Control

"Are you just going to sit there?" she finally asked after sitting and waiting for what must have been ten minutes now.

"I believe I asked you a question young one and it would do you some good to have respect for your elders." Loria did not look up from his com at her typing a report it seemed.

So that was it, a game. Always the adults liked to play games. Fine, I'll play your game for now Loria. "Yes, I am." and then added quickly, "Thank you." Loria didn't acknowledge her again. Well, fine, I guess it's my move first then. "What did you mean by your letter?"

Loria finally looked up from his com and shrugged. "I don't know what you are talking about."

More games? Stop treating me like a kid! "You damn know what letter I am talking about! The one you sent me!" Lem leaped to her feet pounding on the desk. Loria sat back in his chair with a smile gesturing her to walk around his desk to him.

Lem hesitated, but then did as he apparently wanted. A few key-strokes within his com, he pointed to the screen. "These are Omni-Pol records of my last transmissions, as you can see, I never sent you any letter."

OP-IS Director Zhen. OP-IS Sub-Committee Johnson. OP-IS Junior Study Wen. OP-IS... but where is mine?! Lem let out a giggle, she can't believe she fell for this. "Simple, you deleted it."

Loria chuckled aloud, this took Lem back a step. "Go ahead then, try and delete one of these messages."

Lem shrugged. Fine. Simple, want to play it like that? I'll play. Just find the delete key here... and...

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! Lem covered her ears, Loria just seemed to smile as the com made it's loud noise. It stopped after about ten seconds, then a voice picked up from it. Warning, the deletion of Omni-Corp's Secure files is illegal. Attempt to do so again will result in an immediate arrest of the user. This is your one and only warning.

"Want to try again?" Loria laughed again, he seemed to enjoy this. Lem stepped away from the com in anger, heading around his desk out to the door. "Aw, did I hurt the baby's feelings?"

Resting her hand on the door handle, she turned back around to face him. "I know you sent me a message. I don't know how you did it... a different name perhaps? You may not have done so using this com but you did it somehow!"

"Yet did that message bear the IS mark? Because if it did, then that means I must have sent it from this com."

"Yes it did, and you did send it then! But..."

Loria chuckled for a third time in a few minutes. Lem was ready to take that com and bash it over his skull. "But how did I delete it then you wonder? Yes, well, there is more to this all than meets the eye Jacelyn. Take a seat, and let me expalin." Lem did so hesitatingly, her curiousity getting the best of her. "See Jacelyn, there are enemies to Omni-Corp everywhere. Inside as well as outside, your parents are one example of this."

"They don't like CEO Ross one bit, nor do they like this company. It is just a means to provide." Lem wondered what had brought these words to her mouth. Provide? Yes, they provided for Lemmy and I... but if they did go rogue would it matter?

Loria seemed to pick up on her thoughts. "I know it is not easy Jacelyn what you did, nor will it be easy to do what must be done. If you don't, then you will have a miserable life."

    "And that is...?"

"You must end the life of your parents." Lem could not find any words. As for all she believed, what was just said could not be done by any child. Could it? After a minute of silence Loria picked right back up. "It's not easy, I told you that already. But what I can do for you is promise that if you go through with this... I will provide for you."

Lem looked down at her hands, looking back up to Loria after yet another minute of silence. "Provide, how?"

"Well..." Loria tilted his head looking over at Lem carefully. "I will get you a job with Omni-Corp that can suit your skills." Lem couldn't help but laugh. Loria smiled too, it seemed they shared the same thought. "Don't worry Jacelyn, I do have a job for you if you do as I tell you. It will pay you well, and... what's more, you can become a very important part of this Company's Future." He studied her again. She was impressive. At the age of ten Loria wondered if she was actually an under-developed teenager. She handled herself so much more mature... more mature than any child should be at such an age.

Is this man even one I can trust? Who is he? There is more to this than a Rumor Control center... and his words do ring true. What would my life be like if I was treated as a Clanner's daughter? "Okay, I'm in. What do I need to do?"

He smiled, getting up from his chair he clasped Lem on her shoulders after walking around towards her. One hand rested on her shoulder, and the other spun his com around to her. The screen was very different from what she saw before. The two letters IS danced across both the top, bottom, and sides of the screen. The light colors were replaced by dark ones. But it was what was on the screen that caught her eye the most.

"Rubi-Ka Insurance Agency?" Lem read from the screen.

"Yes, the RK-IA. The ultimate power for playing God in the Universe. The ability to die yet be re-born once again. What you see in front of you, is what the employees of the Agency work with. What you need to do is to hack into this database and delete your parent's records so that they are no longer insured."

Lem shook her head. "That's foolish. We could just do it now." Loria turned the com away from her and walked back to his seat. "What?"

"This is merely the first step Jacelyn... and it is not for you."

    "I don't understand."

"You will... now... pay attention. If you do as exactly as I say, you will never have to worry about anything but yourself ever again. You will be in control of your own destiny..."

August 14.29471 RST: "I got a plan for a great day ahead of us." she continued on ignoring Lemmy's reluctance. "I want to do something... special... truly special for our parents. Do something so that... tomorrow... will be a day they never forget..."

How little did Lemmy realize that this day would indeed change her life forever. How little did Lem realize that this day would indeed change her life forever. How little did either realize that one day could mean so much.

And just like that... the new day arrived.
