    Unhappy This won't work

    Not to be the main point, but this will seriously gank all traders, that's the point of Deprive/Ransack.

    When my char hits lvl 40 (38 right now), I have a Ql 78 Vector LIZARD ND that I can equip FAIRLY, and the damage that it'll go up will be killed down to less than is fair.

    In my example, the gun needs 362 shotgun, I have 252 now with just buffs and implants (which are only QL 30 themselves), 2 more lvls is another 10 points, and I get 90 points from chaining up to my highest QL Deprive and Ransack. Unless u intend to make the Deprive and Ransack lines last 30 mins or something alot more than the 3 mins, you're gonna kill another class.
    Traders are Kings, they are the ultimate in self-buffing and no one can change it :P

    My little brother logen in as me and posted a reply ok so sorry about it it was not me but . here my thoughts Im verry happy with the OE fix but I not sure about the pet changes, this will make AO harder and it will make some of the pet classes suck, I guess we will just have to see how it turns out. but engineers well have it bad it will hurt them worse and crats but not as much as engineers, but it will make pvp more accetpble with the weapons and armor fix.

    Ummm, let me get one thing straight here. This patch is supposed to EVEN out the game is that the point? So, ok I am a level 80 Engineer with level 80 pet (because I'd be nerfed all to hell and can't use anything higher). What the hell kind of chance do I have in PvP??? This is fair? I don't have any heals, calms, roots, plunders, debuffs, oh wait i have an A/C BUFF!!! WOOHOO I can boost my NERFED A/C!!! YIPEE, so I can get rooted by the nearest lets see, Agent, Trader, NT, Crat anyone else??? and watch my bot get picked off by umpteen ganking morons while I stand there with my NOW NERFED gun and hit you for 25 pts of projectile damage, because GOD FORBID I can actually do damage or be useful in the game. Yippee, this is perfect wonderful and lovely ... Why the hell do you change a game 9 months into this abortion when players have LEGITIMATELY leveled and followed the rules of the game YOU MORON'S MADE. Are you saying all the time and effort I put into my character is now for nothing??? You are trying to fix over-equippers from so many patches ago that I can bet it accounts for LESS THAN 1% of the players on AO today. So screw us the people that play the game within the rules you set up today just to please the whining crying 12 year olds that didn't tell daddy they used their credit card to play this game??? I for one have played since the first week of release and suffered through many changes, dealt with players that over-equipped and you know what i did??? I AVOIDED THEM! STOP THIS ABORTION OF A PATCH BEFORE YOU LOSE 50% OF THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE GAME!!! I think you know where you can shove your "ice cream".

    ENGINEERS ARE NOW HOSED

    Here is why the Engineer just got hosed:

    - A weapon now becomes 25% less effective when buff runs out; our robots are now 100% less effective when the same happens.
    - Mochams, Infuses and Masteries were THE ONLY WAY we could create a bot that could handle a mission at 70%. Now, 50% is the best we can do.
    - Our bots, even at 20 levels above our own, cannot do the damage of a weapon at even equal our level. The bot has no FA, Fling, Burst or ANY ranged attack at all.
    - The only reason an engie survives at all in a team, is because the bot gets hit and not us. By making our bots only even to us, we will die far more than before. You think this is good Soldiers and Enforcers? Who the hell will Beacon Warp you now when we are dead?
    - Our robot is ALL we have. No roots, no DD nano, no calms, no self heals, no speed buffs... our bot has to be far above us to survive even against yellows.
    - Level 150+ characters now are gods having easily cruised to the level by over-equiping. Those of us who have a life and play occasionaly will now spend 10x the amount of time to get there. Yet, in PvP, we are dead-meat because we can't compete.

    Funcom, here is 1 engineer that considers this a 12.6 patch repeat. There will be backlash unless you do this:

    - Make our bots have ranged abilities (with an trade-skill upgrade like the NCU one)
    - Increase our Nano-line to include some sort of DD attack so we can help the bot more in battle.
    - Take Bio Mett OUT of the req for pet heals, and make it Matt Mett.
    - Allow a pet to crit hit more often. I NEVER see a crit with my pet, yet other professions get them all the time.
    - Make mobs have realistic AC, HP
    - Have our AC buffs actually be able to STOP a hit, rather than taking a couple points of damage off

    I'll have to check the End-user License Agreement when I get home. But, I don't know if it says anything about them being able to change the foundation of the game at any given moment and not have to refund your money.

    I'll probably stick it out I'm able to get all my characters above 100 before it comes. But you're looking to get your unpaid balance refunded and might be able to do so. They are no longer offering the product you paid for.

    Worth a shot for any of you who aren't interested in playing a 'new' game when you paid for and enjoyed the 'old' game.

    I shudder to think how mindlessly monotonous it will be for you poor Engineers with orange bots. Can't wait to start deleting mission keys when my MP sees three NPC Traders in the first room. I have no patience for useless wastes of my time.

    Personally I'd expect Computer Literacy to be under the same restriction as Map Navigation, and exempt from the reset. No one wants to DOWNgrade their NCUs anyway, and it would affect for a while your ability to use the grid. This exemption would take care of that problem altogether.     By "chips" I am confused, We have belts and NCUs, by "chips" do you mean the range increasers, coolant sinks and accelerators?

    I also self equip, so I never complained about this one either.
    Besides 5000 in IPs I'd want to redo, since I never experimented (BORING) so once again, this patch will benefit/hurt someone else besides me %)

    It's funny how people whined about wanting an IP reset, and when it comes, they are starting to whine again, sigh. Maybe I am missing something, but it all seems too complicated to deal with.

    CBehrens40, as for new weapons, I am already using the new adventurer pistols, and like them a LOT! Thank you Funcom. if you still hate pistols, well, sigh. I see adventurers using blades, shotguns, pistols, rifles, martial arts, bow, basically everything but grenades. Aside from that, hate me if you want, but I dont feel too "nerfed" as you say. Aside from the morphs not working right, and the fact that we could use some more morphs (for fun) and some better (beyond Supreme) Wilderness Protection (like Senior and Premium? hehe), I think that Adventurers are one of the most stable characters in the game, mainly because Funcom has *left us alone.* I don't PvP, but I hear more and more that people are getting killed by ".. a stupid adventurer!!! OMG, how embarrasssing!" *grins* so its hard to say any more that we are not capable. I think the only character that has gotten as little attention as us might be the Enforcer, but then I don't really keep up with other professions, so forgive me if this is an incorrect statement. But this is another article entirely. There is a lot of info there, try that area %)


    One more question, as for difficulty, are we talking about REALLY RED Baddies being too hard? The manual said "Impossible"...hehe. Unless I am missing something else (I probably am) I thought that the definition of "Impossible" meant well, uh, "Excuse me professor, is this a trick question? Doesn't it mean 'cannot be done?' " It would seem to me that if we can already kill the "impossible" ones at all, we are not doing too bad." %)

    I love these changes, and can't wait for them to hit.

    - Of course class's that where overpowered will flood you with angry messages, ignore them.

    - Of course people that overequip will freak out and post angry messages, ignore them.


    This is probably the best step towards overall balance I've seen yet. Not perfect, but hell .. what is?

    Erm... you read the original post right? You'll earn redistro points over time and after the one time 90 point deal you'll... be able to reset specific abilities over time. :P~

    Join the croud. Most of the people who don't over equip cannot nore could we ever (at least going back as far as the point they uberized MOB's to keep up with OE'ers) do over 50% missions.. let alone 70%!

    Like I said, I'll probably stick it out unless I start seeing generic 'blah' character templates. But, it heartens me to see other people with conviction stick to their guns when they personally feel enough is enough.

    then i started an adv (lvl 139) ..i quit him because he is a whimp too

    and soon this char gonna be a whimp too

    what the heck are you guys thinking .. how to torture your customers or what ?? (12 dollars is not cheap btw)

    this patch will be your end i guess (because your didnt do it well ) than all the other patches b4

    i ve seen so many of my friends leave because of what you guys did to the game and the proffessions ( 1 is still here by now)

    well this is going to be extremely interesting. EXTREMELY interesting. I've been playing AO on and off ever since beta 4, and ive seen the OE-trend growing. I've started numerous characters, and in the beginning im always a bit fed up with all the elite L100+ characters running around, but not because i consider their power cheating, but because i know i'm *way too lazy to work that hard to become that powerful*. Its a form of envious frustration.

    Here's my 2 dollars worth of commentary:

    1. Overequipping takes time, experience, a massive load of cash and pure dedication. These are the kinds of players AO is in fact looking for, right?

    2. Lets say a level 30 soldier can only effectively use a L30 nova flow, why look, EVERYONE will be using L30 novaflows. Then its no longer a question of skill and specialisation, its a question of luck. *dull*

    3. A significant part of the drive for me since i started my most recent character, an engineer, is learning how the tradeskills and the like work and getting in touch with the economy of AO. Before ive always played by the book, stuck to things my level etc etc, which made A. Levelling extremely slow and B. The game extremely dull. Now that i see how rewarding putting actual effort into the development of your character, using your social skills to get help powering up and somesuch, i feel a much greater sense of reward when i finally get that program working or i get to build a better pet i normally wouldnt be able to. Then i can show off for people and they will know that i did actual work to achieve that power. I didnt just get what was appropriate for my level, and frankly if i did, i wouldnt stand a chance soloing missions around my level. The game would become slow again. ZzzZzz next game please.

    4. Its been said before but it cant be said enough: OE IS NOT AN EXPLOIT! Its the result of absolute MASSES of work, and i have nothing but respect for the people who put all that time into the game. Thats what love is about you know.

    5. Rules suck anyway. Its Anarchy Online, remember?

    6. I'm not a powerplayer. Ill never be able to OE like some elite players can, im too lazy and i play for the social aspect of the game more than anything. But i can see OE is an integral part of AO as it is, and if you screw that up i can see an *awful* lot of people leaving the game. You help out newbies, sure in the beginning theyll appreciate it, but in the end theyll get bored and leave because the rules are so stiff.

    Think this over reeeal good now. REAL good. This is an absolutely massive change.

    Angry Outrageous.

    When I read the "insightful" article, I was stunned, even disgusted. This one patch will KILL ao society, the way it is today. I first tried the game at Beta, and Ive been loving the game ever since, sure there has been some unbalance issues etc. but those are in all games, and the game has still been fun to play, at all times.

    Now when I started playing seriously a few months back, I remember whining when a soldier WASTED me in PvP in no time whatsoever, even though my MA was his level.. IMHO though, this is a phase all AO players go through, you have to be owned in the beginning , but through HARD WORK, PLANNING and simply playing alot, you too WILL be able to make an awesome character, no matter what prof. My friends often ask me why Ive quit other online games and started only playing Ao, and I always reply that no matter what your level is, and whatever your mood is, there is ALWAYS something to do. You can go do missions for cash, trying to get some sweet item you can fence for loads of creds, go hunting with friends, just sit back and try to sell some old equipment in shopping channels, roleplay etc. This is the reason you wont need any other game but AO.. This will all come to an end though, because of the changes FC are planning to implement. I DONT THINK FC EVEN NEARLY COMPREHENDS what this will do to the game, EVERY elite player will quit the game. Many people mentioned this in intelligent previous posts already; if, even through WEEKS and MONTHS of dedication, your character STILL wont be any better than the same lvl char of Joe Average, there is simply no way to excel, or have fun. Twinking, and the hard work that goes with it, is what keeps players, especially elite\veteran ones coming back again and again and again. Its a CHALLENGE to try and absolutely max your character, through intelligent choices of species, profession and IP spending and so on. I couldnt care less about Mob HPs, ill just do slightly easier missions. I couldnt care less about the IP reset points (!??), because it will only be my own fault if my char sucks. But I WILL CARE IF THE GAME IS NO LONGER FUN AND CHALLENGING TO PLAY! This patch may seem like a great idea to newbies today, but it will affect the longevity AO has had all this time.

    Unfortunately I know the fact that I, or even 100 other players write this on forums, because FC, it seems, has already made up their minds. Ive been LOVING the direction the game has been going, balance changes, improving gimped profs, and I dont blame FC for trying to change stuff, I just think this is the WRONG way to do it, because and experienced player will get bored to quick. We will see too many soldiers (for instance) with the exact same gun, same lvl, fighting in arena, and only LUCK will decide who wins ;/

    PS. Ive not mentioned any of the unbalances the patch will create (ie Debuffs will be uber, MAs wont be affected by the patch except for maybe Armor etc. because others have done that already.)

    You cannot wear anything - no implants, no armour, no NCUs - nothing - when you use the IPR.

    another note:

    does this also mean iq rings and such, cause i can't unwear mine till level 190, and im not about to delete my 5% iq ring.

    I guess I want to clarify.

    My issue isn't that engineers will be less powerful, balancing the professions is necessary.

    But every profession has it's problems.
    MP's mez pets do squat.
    Engineers need tons of buffs (to the point my eng was spending 1 mil a day for a warbot...)
    Docs... well those ARE getting work but... still my doc is a cripple until the IP reset...
    Everyone has loads of problems.

    (furthermore if this forum isn't for us to address our concerns regarding profession then I don't know what is, we should ALL shut the hell up and be satisfied with WHATEVER funcom throws at us because there is no way all of us can POSSIBLY be satisfied, people want overequipping, profession rebalancing, overpowered professions, CREDITS, ql 200 weapons, doing 3000 dmg burst and 2000 straight damage, docs should be invincable and... you see the point)

    So YEY funcom for TRYING but I just want them to consider more carefully the immediate effect it will have on the professions and IF engineers are REALLY balanced enough right now to impliment this without much more of a backlash than they need.

    Example I want to stress.
    Two pet classes.
    Eng
    MP

    Engineer gets AC buffs (oooh 200 ac to pet for 20 min... OoOoOooooh, yeah most of us think this does much less than it should, standard buffs (20 space time/matter crea)

    MP gets MOCHAMS. 150+ space time/matter crea. AND expertise.
    That alone is 170+ space time/matter crea.

    Argh I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.
    I've paid up to 700k for mochams and it runs out in an hour.
    I mean REALLY if you want to yell, swear, insult people and go on, fine, really that's your deal but no matter what where I am with my eng I WILL FEEL GIMPED compared to MP.

    Sure my single attack bot has more HP and might do some more damage than MP attack pet, but MPs get healing pets (which work thank you) my eng healing nanos blow, and eng's don't get any mc/ts buffs.

    I have an idea.
    Kill wrangles altogether.
    Kill mochams altogether.
    Hell kill ANY buffing whatsoever. And see what we're left with. And where we should go from there. ^_^

    Just my 2 credits. If you don't like it don't listen. I don't care, but really you can better invest your time than FLAMING.

    Dareus, what you call "super twinking" is a bit different issue. I'll bring it up, but keep this thread to the current article please. Note that they do have to remove all that stuff for the IP reallocation though, so for those who wish to use this (I will ), the implants and NCUs will have to come off sometime.

    And why would a level 7 with a 6 slot belt have any need to reset their IP? Most of the super twink exploiters are veteran players. They know how to spend their IP and will never have a need to reset it, even if they do they can just wait until they can legally equip the gear they've used all along. Still a win win situation for every twinked out exploiter.
