    Just another day

((All names are completely random choices, if I use anyones name it is completely unintentional))

Aura vaguely wondered why there wasn't a trench worn in the floor. For the past 3 weeks straight she, or one of the other guards, had been walking this post day in and day out. It was her first assignment to the front however, so she kept her thoughts to herself and kept plodding along. A glance over her shoulder showed Kelsen mirroring her path along the far wall of the room. Tannek, as usual, was slacking behind with his rifle slung over one shoulder. It amazed her how someone could be so relaxed at a time like this, when just a glance out the door showed the vast wall of Omni-Entertainment. Especially tonight when Nite had finally deemed it safe enough to make his run. The all important mission through Ent and into their coorporate HQ itself. Aura herself didn't know what Nite was after specifically, lowly guards like herself weren't privy to that information. But if Nite was involved it was something important to the big wigs back home in Tir.

Her ponderings were cut short by the tell tale hiss of the outer doors opening and closing. Aura turned expectantly to the doors waiting for Nite to come in with one of his smart ass remarks, but the inner doors stayed closed. Once more she glanced over at Kelsen, who returned her gaze then signaled that he was going to go take a look. Nodding her agreement, Aura moved bit closer to the fore of the room to see what was amiss.

After Kelsen doubletimed it into the ante-chamber the doors slid shut behind him. Blast! Leave it to him to let it block her sight, yet before she could move forward to open them Kelsen came jogging back into the room. He moved past her at a jog right up the middle of the room. Blinking in puzzlement then horror Aura watched him sidle up to Tannek, raise his rifle, and open fire.

Still frozen with amazement her gaze was drawn back to the ante-chambers door which had whooshed open again, this time to admit, of all things, a gleaming helper droid. Somewhere in the back of her mind she remembered seeing a few when she first arrived on this god forsaken plannet. They had been bustling back and forth on some task or another. What one was doing here she had no clue, yet here it was and it was coming at her.

A very final sounding thud signaled the end of the struggle going on behind her. Without looking she knew that Tannek was down, there was no doubt who would win a fight between those two. The droid, looking for all the world like it wanted to give her a cup of coffee, was almost upon her when she finally came to her senses and spun to bolt. She had to reach the others, warn them that they were under attack! She almost made it, almost, before a crippling pain exploded in her lower back. Spinning as she fell she saw the man who shot her.

Once again she blinked in surprise. This was no warrior! This was...was..a business man? Yet there was no mistaking it, a tall man strolled across the room towards her holstering a nickle plated pistol under his blazer. Kelsen walked along behind him. and the droid now shadowed behind them both, called by some silent command. As the man drew near he flicked at the lapel of his suit as if to he were some how sullied. He seemed to be muttering to himself as he approached.

"Traitor!" the words spat at Kelsem, before the suited man could speak.

"No, he's no traitor to your cause." This from the suited man, who crouched down next to her as he spoke. "In fact, he's not even him anymore." This seemed to strike the man as rather funny as he chuckled at his own joke. His mirth was interrupted rather abruptly by the two smoking holes that appeared in the chest of his expensive miir suit.

Rolling to her right Aura sprang, or tried to spring, to her feet and finish off the arrogant beurocrat, but her injury and a stunning right cross from the droid had her down on her back again before she could move more than a few feet. The beurocrat, who was just then getting back to his feet, gave a "tsk" of annoyance and shed the rest of his suit to reveal neck to toe body armor. Very, very expensive armor.

"Do you have any idea how much that suit cost?" He demanded of her, as if he expected some contrite reply. When none was forth coming he said "No matter, no matter. I'd love to stay and chat, but I have some more business to conduct you see. I'll leave your friend here to keep you company.

And with that he stood and strolled into the base with the droid but a step behind. The screams from inside had just begun when she looked up into the flash of Kelsem's rifle.
