"Good luck"

He jumped slightly, surprised by the private comm. He saw the sender's name and realised a tower offensive was most likely underway. He replied with a sincere smile:

"Thanks"

She grinned with her next message:

"And remember to keep that spikey green head of yours down."

He smiled fondly.

[Flashback]Weeks earlier...

"Hi there Chris, you ready to sign along the dotted line?"

He grinned at her.

"Hiyas Cris, turned in that resignation form yet?"

She smiled.

"You mind unmorphing?"

He was hesitant, citing "ugly armour", but unmorphed, revealing a distasteful set of Graft armour. She laughed and convinced him to change into normal clothing. They began talking politics again, much to the dismay of Ryan, or Hardpipe as some called him, dancing nearby.

"Hey, why don't you two stop with the politics, share some saliva, and party?", Ryan grinned, assuming the two were together.

Shortly thereafter, things began to degrade. A couple of Christopher's guild members thought Chris was being given trouble and got su****ious, Ryan got into an argument with one of Cristin's troopers, and Christopher's guild members were drawn in. Cristin suggested the two move outside so that everyone could drop the issue and get back to partying. Chris happily agreed. He followed her outside and two or three of her troopers came along. She excused herself to go back in and quiet things down. He turned to face the three troopers. He was outside the OmniTek bar Relax at DJ Veldron's party. The bar was on the outskirts of Omni-1. He was unarmed and surrounded by three OmniTek soldiers. He thought he should feel at the very least apprehensive, but he was completely at ease.

She came out, they chatted briefly about the war and it began to rain, so they headed back in and took a seat on the couches.

"Storm riled up a hornet's nest with that attack on the leaders... there will be... reprecussions. You.... you keep your head down."

She looked at him. He nodded slowly. She grinned.

"Duck and cover."

He cocked his head and looked at her, wondering why she would tell him this. Why she would even care if he got shot. They spoke for a few more minutes before being interrupted by a comm. She checked the message and looked up.

"I've gotta go..."

"Shoot some clanners?"

He smiled wryly. She nodded, leaned in and whispered:

"Remember... keep that head down."

As she turned to go, he whispered a simple, "Thank you."
