Can not even LAUNCH install on laptop

I have it working ok in my desktop, sure it crashes all the time but I think I got an idea what to do about that.

Now I have a laptop, I would like to play on business trips, but when I try to install I click on install and it does not install at all. The laptop uses win98 and meets the minimum requirements including memory, which I was worried as it is not a top of the line lap top, like I say it does meet then. I did get one of the errors that is listed in the faq, but installing dcome fixed that. Now it is click install and nothing happens but the CD rungs for a few seconds and then it stops, and ideas?

I copied all the files off the cd onto the hard drive to install from there and I can get the install to start but it always fails at 96% with an Unexpected error
