Arrest of Reporter?

Last night, I exited the Whompa from Omni Entertainment to Rome Red. I was immediately greeted with shouting of "Hay, you, halt right there!" and cries of "Stop, Stop!". Then there was a splash and much commotion. There was a large contingent of Omni present, specifically I saw the factions "DC" and "FTC" primarily.

There appeared to be some kind of search and rescue operation going on in the marble pool that blesses the park in Rome Red. Several Yalhamas hovered above the water and a number of people seemed to be swimming. Then to my shock, I realized this was a chase, an alleged fugitive was attempting an escape.

Come to find out, this so called fugitive appears to be a "Reporter" from the clanners, probably from the Voice of Freedom. She was under arrest for allegedly having information pertaining to the "Dust Brigade". Being a Level 229 "Master Assassin", I certainly could understand the concern although she appeared to be unarmed and went with the crowd peacefully though under protest citing her journalistic credentials.

Despite her verbal protests, she (under close supervision) was escorted peacefully to Omni Entertainment. She sat down on the ground as a passive form of protest, after arguing she got up and again followed the swelling crowd of escorts and onlookers.

She proceeded to Trade and was ordered to head to HQ. I immediately got a bad feeling, call it intuition, call it dejavu, I knew no good would come of this. There seems to be something about low suppression areas that brings out the worse in people.

At any rate, she hesitated one last time before passing into the zone. I came in about 3 to 5 seconds behind her. The HQ was secured by forces of MOTHER and FTC ahead of her arrival to ensure no clan interference.

Upon entering HQ, amid a mass sea of people, shots rang out. I witnessed what appeared to be rifle fire, heading from the crowd outward, clearly indicating the shots originated from the mass of people itself, not from some distant building. And as my intuition tried to tell me, the agonizing death noise slipped from the lips of the reporter as she sank to the ground lifeless. A great commotion developed among the crowd. What happened, who opened fired?

After some investigation, it was revealed that someone from MOTHER and someone from DC opened fire on the unarmed reporter the moment she zoned into the HQ area. The officers from both factions first claimed shots came from a distant building. However, since the victim was "brawled" this precluded a distant sniper, not to mention the fact I personally witnessed the gunfire and the direction of the projectiles. Next it was claimed that they were defending HQ from what they presumed to be a high level clanner. This certainly might be understandable if she had been armed and did not have a bright and clear indication of being a "Reporter" that anyone from 40 meters away could have seen. Besides that, these factions were ordered to clear HQ for the receipt of a high level clanner under arrest, they new the exact timing she was coming through.

As many lamented, if this reporter indeed had critical information regarding the Brigade or clan terrorists we may never learn the truth. And if she did not, then a great travesty of justice has been committed. May the truth be revealed to us soon.

The reporter in question rematerialized in Tir and was relocated to a safe house. We appreciate the continued efforts of DC and their affiliates on the clan's behalf. We hope that Omni-Tek Corporation will continue to recruit and retain employees like you.
