I can understand the need for some filtering of names like this one :

BTW I'm guessing Mr Longshot is one of the US GM's, It smacks rather puritanical, from my knowledge of scandinavian countries this kind of thing wouldn't be considered offensive.

While I agree that offensive names should not be allowed I feel that "nikkidial" is not offensive one bit. What is offensive is seeing a Swastica(sp) in game (and if I were jewish i would be screaming like a madman i think).

Hi...

I didnt make the charecter name "Bone" just to offend people. Actually, I thought it as a Doctor, like later post say. The bone in your buddy, the fractions in your bones and so on.

When making this charecter, "Bones" was taken. So I dicided to make "Bone".

I have now played with Bone since launch and never did I once hear any complaints about my name.

I once was victim of a funny joke, when a big fat atrox stood right behind me (I was in a sit down position), and screamed:

"Look at my Boner"

But I found that quite amuzing.

But well.. now I know at least one that wont get that +80 treatment cheap

I must say that in this case I would really like to hear Funcom's side because I AM puzzled as to why they would ban someone with the name of Nikki Dial. And for the record I didn't even KNOW that there was a real porn star by the name of Nikki Dial. I simply assumed that you had chosen to roleplay a porn star.

Unless Nikki Dial actually plays AO and complained about it--and Funcom can't admit that that is the reason because that would be a violation of Ms Dial's privacy.

I am sorry, I was not trying to single you out to be banned. Heck I didn't even have any knowledge of anyone using the character. I was just pointing out how innocent words can be interpretted if you was to judge each one with a dirty mind.

I was saying, "Hey, let's not get silly here!" You know, because names should be based on their obviously offensiveness and not the abstract nature that names could and can evolve to.

There is a reason I posted as a pornstar and signed that way. I never want to be taken too seriously. That is because people tend to swallow what you say more easily when they think you are as fallible as they are.

Sorta like what I heard Curt Cobain say in an interview along time ago. His lyrics where purposeful in the fact he took little nuggets of the truth and wrapped them in a silly wrapper.

That's because in the end humans only want to be lied to. We don't want to confront the impossible to believe for too long. We give and and just WANT to be lied too, even though we know in our hearts that there is a very good chance of being wrong.

Like I have stated before, I was never mad at Longshot. I was mad about the rule and how it was being interpretted. I challenged the rule so that their would be realistic guidelines inplace. I was successful because of my persistance and because of your support. Thank you for that support :O)
