Cheat, Exploit, Grief, Hack, Slash, or whatever your heart desires, I say. Only those that are honest and try to add to a community get screwed over. So why not just intend to screw everyone over and protect yourself from being screwed by using fake accounts and the such. That's how I feel right now after being banned. What did I do?????? I was in violation of clause 1 of the naming policy.

1. Profane, racist or obscene names; this also applies to any homonym, misspelling, combination, or reverse spelling of the previously mentioned.

Why was I singled out???? Because I filled out an application to be an ARK. Not because there was any complaints about my names which have been in use since the beggining of the game. Not to mention no complaints from the 3 GMs I had talked to during the week. No complaints from anyone on the boards, for which I use my names constantly. Nope I was banned because my account came under review, because I wanted to help the community.

I myself don't understand how I am in violation. I'm using common non-descriptive names of people who happen to be Porn Stars. These names are used in print, Television, Movies, and many other everyday forums.

Heck I could have been obscene by making the name "RearEntryGirl" To me that is going over the edge. I only gave a suggestion and only to those people that knew the name in the first place. So if this is supposed to be an adult themed game how can common names of people be banned. E****ially when the names in and of themselves have never been complained about???

This coming from a company that had "ASS" and "CROTCH" gestures ingame and still do. You can flip people off and many other over the edge gestures. I mean if those are allowed shouldn't my names be allowed???? I mean I have had them for ALOOOOOONG time and most of them are well known to everyone in the community.

No matter what you think on wether I should be banned or not, I still suggest no one try to be helpful in any way. It can only get you banned.

I once played Everquest where I was a member of a rather in character small bunch of Iksar roleplayer types... and then I was told that Tetrasodium does not exist in norrath nor is it a word in the Iksar or any other language there and my name was changed... I no longer have an everquest account.

I will avoid and never touch SWG for the simple fact that I do not believe that verant will be able to turn over a new leaf and while I have heard good things about DAOC I've heard from friends who play it about several people who had their names changed for "not fitting into the world" when there really was nothing wrong with it aside from the fact that they killed a lowbie in RvR and the lowbie complained about it for revenge...

It seems that a player was banned in AO as well recently... not for a name that was offensive, or because it fit in any worse than some of the other names that look like pregenerated AOL screen names with extra numbers and misspellings to make it fit but because it's a reasonably normal name.... this name was not found because they ganked some lowbie in PvP or were exploiting or anything else but for the simple fact that they applied to join the understaffed ARK program... the very same one that was (is still?) recently asking for applicants on the login page.

Please consider removing the ban from NikkiDial, TracyLords, KayParker, Seka, and CristyKanyon that was put in place because someone tried to stretch the definition of obscene or profane to extreme lengths

I saw a player named "blackracist", think the spelling might have been a little different, but phonetically how I spelled was it. Now that was offensive.

Nikki Dial is just a name. Only if you are a viewer of porn would that name even have meaning. There are very few porn stars that are known to the average person (John Holmes, Marilyn Chambers).

I don't think an innocent teen would look at that name and think anything of it. It is not a sexual inneundo and it is not obscene.

I think Nikki should be reinstated, perhaps dropping the "pornstar" addition to posts would be a compromise. That way it would be sort of an inside joke for those in the know and just another name to the naive.

Let reason prevail. Nikki has been here a long time, little late to be censoring her now.

unbann his account, I am 25 yrs old and have watched my far share of adult movies and didn't noticed what the names refer to until he stated in the post that they were pornstar names.

So what big deal, 1st of all the person who realized this was porn names then that says something about your self. you should have gotten a laugh out of it knowing that not even one trys to remeber porn names, unless your single and can't find a partner (no offense NikkiDial) but to ban an acct is just stupid. I could understand asking them to change the chrs names but to bann them is childish. I for 1 have no issues with it and don't beleave that it would bother anyone else I know.

Not only is the name Nikki Dial in no way obscene in and of itself, no rule should be applied that unevenly. Either examine each new character as it is created or wait until you get, say 20 complaints about a name before talking to them, and then CHANGE THEIR NAME. Banning is absurd.

Not only are there hundreds of characters with vastly more offensive names than this, including dozens of variations on "sex toy," the game itself includes such a preponderance of nudity and other adult content that it is clear the designers do not regard such things as being obscene themselves.

I strongly urge the game administrators to reverse this terrible decision.

Are you sure it wasn't your long, long, long and impassioned defense of selling AO stuff on Ebay? The one where you consistently stated that Cosmik was not a Funcom employee and that you therefore didn't believe a word he said? The one where you said you would only believe that it was against the rules to sell on Ebay if the President of the company himself told you that it was?

At the least, that couldn't have helped your standing with the company. Not saying anyone is right or wrong, just stating an aggravating possibility.

Really, really stunned.

Assuming there's no additional angle to the situation leading to the banning of Nikki's characters, I think it's an absolute joke. This is the first I've ever heard of the characters, being the complete n00b that I am, but hot damn, that decision needs to be reversed (or explained) NOW.

Given the vast number of lame names I see around the game on a daily basis, they're about the least offensive and most acceptable names I can imagine. A damned sight better than JoeBlow66, killRdood and many MANY other names that frequent RK.

was that the names were copyrighted by their respective owners. Hence the suspension. That would be a Mythic move. As far as offensive? You gotta be kidding. Nikki? I dated a girl called Nikki. Dial? Am I supposed to be getting aroused now?

If it's all the about the names and it's not a copyright issue then this is pretty lame. I've seen names I wouldn't repeat in this post calmly running around with their racist or hate filled connotations for months.

This is the email I recieved Un-edited.
I've already gotten my account back, but it's not the same. I had the choice of deleting the characters or renaming them. I chose to delete those that where only name holders till I could make a character for them and got to rename 3 others.

The problem is the names are really bad considering only crap is left and they where really picky in my choices, so that even any name with ANY remote chance of having ANY sexual overtones where not allowed. It's like the soul of my characters where removed. I know eventually I will find them again, but it will still take me awhile.

That still doesn't change the fact this ban was silly as crap. Anyone who stretchs to make these name obscene needs to be shoot. It reminds me of the TV censors in the 50s. Lets have couples sleeping in seperate beds, babies where born in cabbage patchs, and Nothing even remotely in any way suggestive would be allowed.

I think someone has wayyyy to much time on their hands myself. Reminds me of Bevis and Butthead. heh hehe heh... He said huh Unit... heh hehe heh. Can't have that name since its slang for a the male genitals. BackEnd, cant have that name since it can be thought of as your sexual preferences or someones Arse. Hmmmmm, lets just ban all words because sooner or later people are going to refer everything to something sexual. BTW why isn't the person named "Bone" banned?????

It is very uncommon to have any name copyrighted. Much less the ends someone would have to go through to prove they NEED their name copyrighted.

Even still copyrights only mean anything if someone is making money off something you have copyrighted or are devalueing the said copyright by using it.

Ok, that is just mad. How can a *name* be obcsene? I mean it's just a name. Ban all the people using real obscene names instead of going after innocents. Gee what happens in that club? You know, the one in the "red light district". This whole club has sexual overtones. Why not suspend Omni-ent?? I mean how dare they have "that" kind of club in their city! And why aren't we suspending every female character that walks around town in a thong bathing suit or even thong panties? Is this not offensive? Much more offensive than a name I think. Why? BECAUSE FUNCOM PUT IT IN THE GAME. Don't thong panties have a much stronger sexual overtone than somebody's name? After all, not all people know who Nikki Dial is. Although, obviously the person that made the judgement call to suspend Nikki must have known who she was. How can someone get suspended for having the name of a porn star, but I can flip you off, moon you, and scratch my a$$ as emotes in the game. Surely seeing somebody flip you off is much more offensive than a persons name.
