IRRK Freelance - Newland - Newland's Militia have increased patrols in response to an alarming incident in the area.


This all came swiftly after some neutrals showed a distinct lack of respect for Newland's current security minister, Agrestus Wright, during one incident where a neutral terrorist group had kidnapped and tortured a young female Omni-Tek employee, seemingly of no importance other than being the apparent girlfriend of an Omni-Pol officer.

Omni-Pol had managed to locate one of the "neutral" terrorists behind the kidnapping, and as usual they were in Newland, leaving Omni-Pol with no authority. However, rather than just arresting her and breaking the rules like they have done in the past, the officers present decided to show more respect for Newland and contacted the security minister for permission to detain the suspect.

As the minister arrived on the scene, it became apparent to him that the "neutral" in question was "nothing but a twisted warmonger. Torturing an innocent girl isn't going to achieve anything."
He then stated that terrorists of any kind are not welcome in Newland, and gave Omni-Pol permission to arrest the individual. It was then that chaos broke out.

A flock of neutrals, mostly from The Defiant, halted the officers and the minister from escorting the individual out of Newland. A "neutral" stepped up, presumably from the same terrorist group as the suspect, stating to the minister "You have no power here" while surrounding the minister with gun-toting neutral soldiers. The officers and the minister held their ground, while the minister attempted to negotiate his way out of the situation to avoid any conflict among neutrals. However, it became apparent that these "neutrals" refused to accept the minister's authority, actually threatening to "nuke the city". What?

It was at that point that something happened that I never thought would happen before, at least not in Newland. The minister raised his baton, and struck another neutral. Though, to be honest, threatening to blow up the city definitely deserves a whack in my opinion. The situation then escalated, and without the Militia providing any back-up it appeared to be a one man army trying to combat a terrorist group.

Luckily, Omni-Pol managed to beacon warp the minister and the officers to safety, and the kidnapped girl was rescued. It just goes to show that two factions can indeed work together without conflict, despite their differences.

As a result of this alarming incident, General Hekkat had agreed to increase patrols in Newland to maintain respect for the authorities, and make sure that this incident would never happen again.

Good job, Newland. You too, Omni-Pol.

Well I have to say this... As a member of this so called Terrorist group, we do a have a name. As we said at the BOD Party... Neutrals have suffered for to long at the hands of both Omni-Tek and the Clans... Our brothers and sisters are abused... shunned... Killed in the name of credits. It is disgusting...

Omni-Tek claim to be a our friend... A friend that does what? Brands all those that do not work for them as terrorists? And send them to Reform to become mindless slaves of the corporation. Omni-Tek even thought the take over of Borealis and the lands around it, was legal... They fail to protect the neutral people of the town. When the Kry'Ozch attack the city. What do the Omni-Guards do...? They run and hide under a rock forcing my brothers and sisters to defend themselves. When Omni-Tek is meant to protect them.The Clans are just as bad with there treatment to us. No neutral can safely walk down the streets of Tir to admire the beauty of the city, without being shot on sight. Nor are we able to take holidays at the Castle of Camelot without being attacked by the clan's that recently took it over.

The brothers and sisters that stood against us at Newland that day... You claim you are neutral but in truth you are more like Omni-Tek and the Clans. You are no true neutral in our eyes. We threatened to "Nuke the city" yes, but to purify it from the evil taint's that the Clans and Omni-Tek have laid upon it.

We at Lazarus call upon all our true neutral brothers and sisters, to stand up to Omni-Tek and the Clans. To join us so that we can retake our cities and our lands back from those that would pillage the land in the name of profit and power.

The incident in question originally started in Newland Desert, where even the Newland City Council Agrees they have NO authority. The Free Citizen being detained and manhandled by Omni-Pol, with the assistance of Minister Agrestus, was only a suspect, and Agrestus had no right judging her "nothing but a twisted warmonger." And he was definitely outside his authority in helping Omni-Pol seize and drag off a free Neutral citizen. As President of The Defiant I was asked to save the lady in question from the abusive Omni-Pol officers that had detained her, and rushed to render aid. When threatened with violence by Minister Agrestus, I warned him that I had a Little Nuclear reaction running in my cyberdeck and he might trigger it's release,,,when he raised his baton and sprang at me, he found he just bounced off my hastily raised Nullity Sphere, and was totally ineffectual

Yes, that was obviously how it went. Bloody terrorist.

Are you a total moron? Newland is about the closest thing the neutrals have to a real seat of power, and you wanna 'cleanse' it of taint?

For your little mind to comprehend, there has never... and i mean EVER been a threat from clans to destroy Newland. We have been nothing but polite and fair in our dealings with Newland proper, and furthermore we have a seat in our council dedicated to a neutral representative for the express purpose of keeping our positions well known to each other.

For your own safety, I highly suggest you let your government do what it needs to. If you were a patriot at heart, you'd understand that going against that kinda peaceful agenda only makes you look far more villainous than the people you are actually trying to accuse.

I hope I run into you someday, so I can do something that the good General is too kind to do to you himself.

This is quite untrue. High commander Fisk has announced that given the weapons, he would destroy Newland City and Borealis.

Well, Kel.. I gotta say. After reading that article, I still can't agree with you in a proper sense. He may wish to do it, given the means. But, he doesn't have the means. If Simon meant to let him have his way, then it would be done already. The truth about that particular politic is that we as a council would never let that happen. Can he have an opinion? Sure. Can he act upon his conviction? Most certainly not. So we maintain in a non-threatening stance on Newland proper.

I'd also like to go on record by saying *sigh* yet again, that if you have a problem with one clanner in particular... this does not mean that clanner represents the whole. If you found Fisk in Newland causing trouble, I guarantee you it was of his own volition, and would make quite a few enemies from his own people should he do so.

(( There's also that 29477 Incident that no one likes to talk about when, you know, the Clans tried to invade Newland :P ))

Ok, where is the Clan invasion of Newland? I see Neutrals getting shot in TIR, and Clanners getting shot in Newland. but that is hardly an invasion. Granted, at the time as I was a Sentinel, I would have been in the front of any such invasion if it had been ordered. It was never ordered. It has never been ordered. And I totally dont see it ever being ordered.

That being said, it is still true a Neutral takes their life into their own hands going to Tir. But they arent dragged there by any clanner. That is their own choice to take that risk for what ever reason.

And I must appolgize, as I see I am further dragging this thread off track. This appears to be a neutral problem. And the neutrals have taken steps to deal with it. Good for them.

There have been and I'm sure will be groups from all walks of Rubi-Ka making threats against Newland.
As far as Fisk is concerned, well he is a leader of a large group among the clans. His opinion is going to be taken with a little more concern then your average person walking along the streets. I'm sure if he could get away with it Silverstone would give Fisk the means to destroy Borealis and Newland. Simon made be a lot of things, a fool is not one of them. He knows with all his might he couldn't handle the fallout from an event like that. I'm sure Simon would do a lot more things if he thought he could get away with it. I'm sure he would smack Ms.Delus for being a peace loving hippy if he thought he could get away with it. But I digress as the clans are not the issue here.

The problem here seems to be a group threatening to kill everyone for not agreeing with them, and as usual claiming some righteous cause for their justification. So far from what as been said here, and the stories I've heard. I would have to say the Minister was being polite in his statement. This isn't a terrorist group, but rather a sad group of insecure people with delusions of grandeur scavenging for power to feel better about themselves and the worthless lives they lead. Nothing more then adolescent boys in a locker room measuring contest.
Sadly these types of groups will always show up on Rubi-Ka. Ranting and raving when they don't get their way. Back peddling and lying when they are challenged on their words. Really like all misbehaved children they should just be put in the corner until they are ready to play with the adults; however, it's hard to say with any punishment if any lessons will be learned. As clearly this is also a group that no matter how many mirrors you put in front of them, not matter how many times you prove them wrong, they'll never learn. They'll just wander about pestering others blinded by their own idiocy and lunacy, until, hopefully someday soon, they burn themselves out and fade away.

Due to the latest incidents in Newland and Borealis, my organization shall be routing all of our official traffic around both cities, and limit trading excursions to a maximum of ten minutes to avoid further ill-will from the Neutral residents. If Omni-affiliated personnel are not welcome in Neutral territories, we of Alt.org shall comply.

Ok, now I am totally confused. Omni are involved so that tends to happen as they rarely seem to make sense. But were in all of this do you get Omni citizens are not welcome in Neutral territories?

Being clan, I really dont care where you go, as long as it isnt to Tir.

I see a discussion about some incident in Newland, involving a newland official, and apparently some other neutrals and even OP officers.

I see followup discussions involving Sentinels and their responses to Neutrals, and subsequent reactions in the past of Newland to that against clanners (which is no longer the case following the ouster of Warr and crew with their replacement by the current Newland Militia).

No where in this discussion do I see anything saying Omni are not welcome in neutral areas. In fact no where in this did I see any discussion of Omni treatment within Neutral areas.

Please enlighten me.

As I see it, the two primary Neutral cities are Newland and Borealis. Continuing resentment of the Omni presence in Borealis from the Neutral inhabitants and Clan visitors make the streets of Borealis an unsafe place for an Omni-Tek employee at the moment, and I do not see the situation improving any time soon. As for Newland, Scrinny made it clear that at least for some citizens, an Omni in Newland will be treated the same as an Omni in Old Athens, or a Neutral in Tir. Enough Omnis ignore these warnings and cause more problems for all three factions.

We will not.

Alt.org does not participate in the so-called "Notum Wars", the continuous violence on the orbital Battlestations, or other forms of inter-faction conflict. Not from pacifism, but from the fact that our energies are better spent in other fields.

I can understand your decision, it does feel like Newland might be unsafe at the moment. However, I believe the incident in question was between a group of neutral citizens and a representative of Newland City Council and as far as I can see the Council is definitely not discriminating anyone from being present in Newland.

From my experience as Foreign Affairs minister on the Council (I resigned some time ago), there have always been small disputes between individuals from both factions as well as neutrals and Newland representatives. One could say that's the nature of politics and solving problems like that is one of the tasks of the Council. I bet Omni-Tek cities' administration and clan cities' administrations must be dealing with stuff like that on a daily basis too. The only difference is this case has been publicised.

So, in my opinion, neither clan, omni nor neutral people should be avoiding Newland. There's no reason for it as long as the Council is there to keep watch.

Having said that, if you're still reluctant, you can always visit Last Ditch. We have a nice market there, the biggest nightclub on the surface of Rubi-Ka, a scientific academy, and the locals, who are of both factions as well as neutrals, are friendly.

The recent conflict in Newland has been caused by a group of terrorists who, much like the Dust Brigade, attack anyone, be it neutral, omni or clan, simply because they don't agree with anyone. For such people, you won't be safe by avoiding cities. I don't think anyone fails to remember how the Dust Brigade has blown up 1/3rd of Omni-1 Entertainment. From what I have heard last time I spoke with the Council, the situation is under control and General Hekkat is maintaining the peace in Newland rather well. Be it terrorists or aliens that make trouble. Your as safe in Newland as you would be in Omni-HQ, avoiding Newland is by no means necessary.

Neutral are no company. Are no rebels. Normal citizen want be free en police self. Simple.
