IRRK Freelance - NEWLAND - On Saturday May 3rd, 29482, the attending members of the monthly Newland City Council Meeting were violently attacked by an unknown assailant. All seven casualties have made a full recovery.


It was dusk, nearing the conclusion of the topics on the day's agenda; there fell a relaxed atmosphere among the council.
That was when the shots sounded. The first volley that emerged from the cannons of the Mechanized Scout Vehicle was deafening. Then the bodies started falling.

Several members of the Newland Council were instantly killed. Sotto Mahoney was also among the casualties. Notwithstanding the shock of the attack, the remaining survivors gathered around the subway station, an enclosed area safe from harm. One man bravely faced the attacker, but was shot and killed.

At last, skilled fighters from among the group rushed in, and brought down the Scout Mech in a fierce firefight with anti-mech launchers, Personal Assault Vehicle, and even Ana Marecki in her Assault Vehicle, high above the crowd, firing into the opposing target.

When the dust cleared, only the wreckage of the mech, and the symbol that it bore upon it, remained.
Painted upon the Scout Vehicle was the image of a bright, half set sun.
This appears to be the exact same symbol that was drawn into the dirt in Backyard three by a fixer when the Omni-1 Computer System was compromised via a Newland Insurance Terminal.

Several minutes later, the Mech's reactor core, under the intense heat of the still burning fire, went critical and exploded - Sending bits of flaming shrapnel into the air.

The opinions of those involved in the incident were varied. When asked how she was, Sierra "Denaligunner" Delaney bravely replied: 'Fine, but wishing I'd gotten a few shots at him.’ chuckling, while Ester "Guifei" Loong asked 'I wonder why someone would try to wipe out the Newland council?’ confused as to the motives of the assailant.

While the setting sun is a widely recognized Joint Clan symbol, judgment on the identity and purpose of the criminal should be reserved until further evidence can be found.
There is no doubt however; that whoever committed this crime will pay dearly for their actions.
