If you are self buffing, then you will be able to rebuff when the nano wears off. As such, you will not have dropped in effectiveness.

The answer to OE is simple, lvl or title caps like the weapons can be used upto 20 QL's above your lvl. That'll keep a challenge upto about lvl 180 and still keep people interested in the game.
That is not going to work. The problem isn’t just that players are over equipping. Funcom has stated that over equipping is in fact designed into the game. The problem is that characters are over equipping in areas that they should not be able to do. If you need an example of this, look at how everyone is using shotguns. By basing the amount that a player can over equip on the stats themselves, the professions will regain their identity.
Like I said before. Do the math on items that you can over equip with the 20% limit. For skills that are green to you, it is not much of a limit at all. Now if you want to over equip an item based on a blue skill, you are going to run into trouble, but that is how it should be.
With your system, the underlying stats have no influence on what you can over equip. This lessens the affects that breed and profession should have on your character.
It's a brighter future ahead ...
Three cheers Funcom!
I was going to quote some of the negative whining posts, but there were too many.
I'm not a high level character, although I have several over lvl 50. My highest is Lvl 80. And I dont know what all the crying is about. It makes me wonder if any of these people have actually TRIED playing a character that was "self-equipped".
My lvl 80 char is an MA. I am proud to say that I can take out all her equipment/implants/ncu's etc and place them all back in using only self buffs and general nano's. How many lvl 80 chars can say that??
Even before the latest MA loving I could easily solo 50% missions, and I could carefully solo higher lvl missions. No I couldn't solo a lvl 120 mission and I would expect to be able to.
I have another char that is lvl 55. A dual pistol adventurer. And she is also able to self equip everything she wears. And at lvl 55 with dual QL70 Desert Reet pistols, she too can easily solo 50-60% missions.
And before anyone pipes in saying that lvl55 and lvl 80 is too young to know anything.. I say stfu =) True maybe I dont know the high lvl game.. but consider that its not that the overall damage of pistols suck ... its that the damage of the other chars with insanely OE'd weapons is too high. Pistols are very hard to OE because there is no Multi-ranged buff... and who wants one pistol? =)
MA's could never OE their weapons. You say they OE their weapons with Implants and Buffs? Yes.. but if those implants or buffs come out.. the MA weapon is not OE'd anymore, whereas the QL150 Nova on the QL70 soldier is still working after buffs and implants removed.
Consider this also. The OE patch will give all those lvl 120+ players something to do, since they will no longer be able to use all the QL200 equipment they now have =)
Good Job FC!
p.s. If this patch makes you feel cheated ... then welcome to the world of honor player when we play with you OE'ers. Its no fun playing with a team when in mid battle you can run out of the mission, go to the shop, have a smoke, get a coffee etc and come back.. and no-ones missed you =)

That's a lot of bashing without explaining why you won't OE. How is using a wrangle dishonorable? How is using Feline's Grace to equip armor dishonorable? How is using tools that the developers of the game gave you dishonorable? So OE'ers get help from other people. Do you think this is dishonorable? and as to your comment on ppl 120+ i can SELF equip myself into my ql 200 gun, and ql 180 armor. I only comment on this issue because I think FC is taking a TERRIBLE approach to balancing. Professions and gameplay should all be enhanced, not nerf everybody and see what happens from there. Frankly, my main character won't be touched at all with this patch, but if this trend continues, FC will continue to use nerfing as a cop-out to careful-design-balancing (see: meta fixes and MA fixes for examples of how to balance.)
