Clan starting in the deserted Athens is indeed not a good starting place. I've always wondered about that. Why not start in over in the actual city where dailies and half the clan population tend to hang out?

Because a long, long time ago people where hanging out in WA. But as this became more and more meaningless and people moved away, the spawn point did not move with them.
Some say it is a bit selfish and just didn't want to do what everyone else did. But on the other hand it might be it is just because it is not a very mobile spawn point.
West Athen is starting city the same reason you start outside rome as omni its next to the clan subway, personally id be all for choosing your side in bor which is what i do half the time and getting rid of the sided subways making it like every other dungeon
That makes sense. Maybe that can be changed with the new starter experience or whatever they called it.
So are there no more monthly updates? Does anyone other the vhab actually read these threads? I understand there is "restructuring" happening right now but why was there no plan put in place to keep things like this moving? It's kind of sad that the communication between you guys and the AO player base is pretty much non-existent. I think someone might need to give Joel a copy of a dictionary bookmarked with the word "Communication" highlighted. I am getting the feeling that communication is as important to him as he claims it is in interviews. AoC came out and was considered the biggest flop in MMO history. TSW came out, was half as successful as AoC and nearly bankrupted Funcom, yet both get regular updates. And despite the terrible graphic and promises that are still yet to be seen, AO continues to not be a flop after 14 years, yet gets treated as an evil step child. Why is this?
when is the new engine gonna be able to download when will it be out can a developer answer this question plz? ive been lookin at AO for more than 4 years now and it still hasnt came out whats up wit teh slowness
Do you honestly believe that AO, a 12 year old game based on hopelessly obsolete technology and featuring game play so archaic and broken that only a tiny handful of long time players can deal with it anymore, is a better investment for the company than TSW and AoC, which were both hugely more successful than AO in spite of being perceived as "flops" by the industry?
Tbh, what FC is doing with server migration is not so much to boost in game population as much as it is downsizing. By abandoning servers, Funcom cut down fixed portion of AO's operating costs so that AO's dwindling revenues can be considered profitable. Common tactic for any corporation with a declining product.
Translation, work on the new engine will continue to become increasingly slow with less revenue. FC is a publicly traded company so it distributes resources with profit potential in mind. At this stage, it's clear that FC does not consider AO's profit potential to be long term. So if revenue goes up, maybe there is potential for accelerated development, and vice versa. So grab yo friendzzzzzz!
how long is ssoon i asked the same question 4 years ago
Welllllllllllllllll, it is more soon now then when it was soon before, before it was a different kind of soon, sort of like a before soon. Then there came kinda soon but then that changed because of the stars so kinda soon became far off soon. Then far off soon became before soon, and 2 years ago it became near soon.
What we are at now is soon. Everything that is happening soon is happening soon. We past near soon just now, now we are at soon now, no one knows when soon will be now.
