Did you know? Omni-Pol is powerless on Rubi-Ka.

In November of 29478 (2004) Omni-Tek declared all their assets on Rubi-Ka to be under Martial Law.

Land, even under lease, is considered a Corporate Asset. Therefore all of Rubi-Ka, with the exception of Newland, has been placed under Martial Law.

As of today, Martial Law of Rubi-Ka has not been lifted.

Under Martial Law, civil law enforcement is replaced with Military law enforcement. Therefore, Omni-Pol is not currently authorized to pursue criminal prosecution.

Not to entirely agree or disagree, but I always felt that Omni-pol meant internal police, really.

Omni-Pol dispenses indiscriminate justice on any law breakers.

Joke aside : I wonder what is omni pol's role in the martial law, I'd guess they would not sit while the OTAF handle security.

Whilst i gather the facts, and have poked Lornavash to clear this up. From what i've already discussed with him, Omni-Pol would be absorbed into Omni-AFs command, but Omni-Pol operationaly would hardly differ and would for the most part continue as normal.

Like i said, i've asked him to clear this up.

In addition to the standard police force, there are four sub-departments under the Omni-Pol umbrella: OP Investigative Services, OP Corporate Control, and OP Anti-Terrorist Unit are part of Omni-Pol pan-galactic operations. Unique to Rubi-Ka is OP Clan Watch, a special task-force assembled up to monitor clan activities.

No you!

Yeah but.. since Agentcora and Omni-pol cannot execute their authority inside of clan lands without threat of violence, that effectively that stance is illusory and self-serving at best. Surely Omni-pol could go and invade and throw its weight around, Its just not practical and without an effective strategy its impossible. You can conjure all the information you like, but it doesn't stop the reality of the outcomes. I think that fundamental conflict of interest was necessary to instill a sense of tension in how the community interacts with itself in character.

Violence is the only hard counter in this situation for both sides, and that effectively creates a stalemate.

I don't think we'd ever officialy operate within Clan territory anyway, that's something for AF to do.

Sure we've ran a few skirmishes here and there but those were all stricly un-official and not authorized by Omni-Tek. Such as the Humbold story.

Strange. I thought they did the martial law thing long before the aliens arrived. I must be out of touch with my RK history. Then again, it has been a couple of years since I gave it any hard looks. Thanks for the info, Vash. :)

That article, which is the same article I referenced in the OP, clearly states three things:

1) All their assests on Rubi-Ka to be under martial law.
2) Reinforcements have been requested specifically for Omni-1 and Omni-3.
3) Neutrals are allowed to flee to the two cities as refugees.

If you have a different lore source that states Martial Law only applies to those two cities I'd be interested to see it.

Fun fact Addendum:

The Acting CEO has Declared Matrial Law on top of the existing Martial Law.

Since, Martial Law is a Negative...

Martial Law * Martial Law = Civil Law.

So, by Virtual of the Double Negative the CEO has lifted the Martial Law of 29478. The Planet has returned to Normalcy!
