The Day of Reckoning

IRRK - It is time to set aside the continuing conflict between Omni-Tek and Clan; add the Neutrals into the mix and together, work as one to eradicate the aliens from Rubi-Ka's territory and space.

There is no longer any room for the continued bickering over who did what to whom and when. The situation is becoming critical and aliens have established a strong foothold in the outlying regions. They attack our towns indiscriminately, and they attack our organizational cities with increased frequency. They do not see our factions, but instead use our internal struggles to their advantage.

We have managed, just barely, to keep them in check. We have 'acquired' some of their weapons and armor, far superior to our own. We cannot match their superiority in technology. We have yet to capture any of them alive. We have been unable to communicate with them.

The day of reckoning is near. We need to create a task force. A multi-factional task force that will focus on the increasing alien threat. Towns must set up increased defenses. We need better communication between factions. We need to share our intelligence on the aliens so we can figure out the best way to rid ourselves once and for all of this menace. We must guard all access to the Shadowlands and repel the aliens from getting a foothold there.

The ball is in everyones court and action needs to be taken now, or there won't be a Rubi-Ka to fight over.

Too much funds go towards useless "OMG Clan did this Omni did that Neutrals suxxorz nerf nefr nerf" actions and executions. We need to band together against the true menace or, like she said, there won't BE a RubiKa to fight over.

I will not fight to defend a rebel city, never. Neutral? Probably. But rebels, no. They already chose not to accept Omni-Tek protection.

There are always those, unfortunately.

I agree that fighting off the aliens is the top priority now, we have been fighting for centuries without reaching anything but a stalemate. And yes, it's a stalemate: we're all still here, ommers, clans and neuts, and we're not driving each other off the planet.
If we throw the aliens back out we can go back to our factional struggles - or better still, learn to live without wars - but if we do not fight off the aliens we'll be exterminated for good.

This won't happen. There have been too many knifes stuck in the back, too many secrets untold, too many treaties broken. This is just one more annonymus call to help clean up the mess OT caused.

We present a unified front, or embrace extinction. Your choice.

Untill I see some proof that Omni-Tek is the force behind the aliens I would ask that you refrain from such statements, we are already knee deep in jet fule, seems some what foolish to be tossing lit matches around.

I agree, we need to set aside our differences for now untill we have forced this alien threat away, or have reached some kind of understanding with them, so far their goals are not truely known. Capturing one alive, one that shows intelligence, would be a great boon to all sides. Break the language barrier and perhaps further conflict will not be required, at the least we will have one to study and perhaps develop new tactics to apply against them.

Actually, I think Trgeorge is referring to the war, previous to the aliens (i'm sure he'll correct me if i'm wrong).

...and what you're saying is that we stop killing each other and focus on the aliens until it's time to get back to killing each other. Why go through that when it will only be on a superficial level? My dagger isn't behind my back, it's out in the open and it's going to stay that way.

So, you people let the media scare you into a false unity so when it's all over, don't be suprised when that Omni turns their gun on you and sends you to reclaim. Can't have the price of notum getting too low, now can we?

Ain't gonna be surprised since it's a temporary measure in the first place.
That we turn on each oter after the aliens (hopefully) have been kicked out is kinda implied.

'Sides, I believe I have a better chance at survival fighting ommers than aliens.

I think first we Omni need to exterminate the clammers, then deliver the same fate to the aliens.

Why? Fire cleanses it all. We need to deal with past before we move on. And frankly, while I don't advertise war, I don't trust OT one bit. Atm, in case of co-op, should opurtunity arrise, I'd shot ommer first and then alien, simply to cover my back. Fact is they knew aliens are coming well before they made it publicly awailable. Up to this point we don't know what they did, if anything, to prevent their arrival. Want me to go on? Mort crater, Tir accord, cave-in, etc. I'm sure they can mak similar statements, but examples I listed are well documented. Difference betwen aliens and OT is that I know aliens are allways wanting to kill me. They are predictable and becouse of that more reliable. You can't co-work with someone that's unreliable.

From initiall rebelion we know this was one way ticket. Either all or nothing. Either peace and freedom at our terms or death. Of course with time and circubstances, terms can change and people must adopt. But personally I preffer death as slavery in mines or playing guinee pig at some labaratory.

If I had the decision, I'd shoot the aliens first. Unlike the opinions of others, I believe the Clan side has some legitimate reasons for not liking Omni-Tek, but I still believe Omni-Tek has the benefit of the doubt. When was the last mine collapse heard of? I believe Omni-Tek has made leaps and bounds in what the faction issue first started over..... notum mines. I say we put our differences aside for now and worry about the current frontier we are facing now, the aliens.

I know that Omni-Tek Corporation was aware of the aliens, seeing how I was directly involved in the research of their ships. As you have heard, "Omni-Tek Protects", and that is true. There are reasons why the rest of Rubi-Ka was not informed of the alien threat, but those details cannot be disclosed at the time. As an Extraterrestrial Psychoanalyst, even in my best efforts, I was unable to communicate with them or understand them.

These aliens have powers that are unfathomable compared to the available technologies. WE NEED to co-operate to combat this alien threat. Without this co-operation, we will be destroyed. To quote "Abraham Lincoln" (Name pending due to the nature of the ancient book this name was discovered in), "A house divided cannot stand."

What the aliens want is access to "The Source" slaying The Beast obviosuly broke their link to it, our last stand should be in Pandemonium.

Well seeing as how the aliens alrdy use nano programs i think it's safe to say there after notum....rk's a drop in the buckets compared to whats inside sl.

I think omni and clan are quite cappable of defending there own citys.

If for some reason the aliens do take over one of the faction's main citys...that would give them access to Jobe.

I would work on the defence of Jobe with all factions to protect the shadowlands
but trying to send troops into an opposing force's territory on RK..no matter how honerable the motives is just asking for trouble....

clan doesn't want omni help...and omni doesn't want clan help...but i think we would both help JOBE if it become an issue.....

Jobe should be safe for now though. There's no way they'd risk destroying the portals in a full frontal assault if the shadowlands are their ultimate goal.

Hehe, you sure can cooperate with someone unreliable - as long as you're aware of his unreliability you can cover your self with a little care.
And, my friend, combat goes much smoother when a lot of care is applied.

Clans and ommers distrust each other and I believe the neuts have a hard time trusting either of us. At least us old-timers.
I have heard from many newcomers to this planet that at first faction doesn't matter to them, they all pitch in and help defend the arrival island from the frequents assaults taking place there. It's only after they come to the mainland that they go all nuts.. like the rest of us, I might add. Too much bloodshed, mayhem and suffering does that to us.

And I personally believe that if we don't learn to cooperate regardless of faction it'll be death - permadeath, mind you - for all of us rather than freedom. And frankly, I don't consider it a victory tobe the last humanoid alive on Rubi-Ka, particularly when that honor can be expected to last no more than a few seconds.
Of course, you can say that permadeath is also a kind of freedom but I have yet to hear anyone proclaim it to be a lot better than what we already have here on Rubi-Ka. Even with all the fighting and suffering.

You want to work together to save rubi-ka?

Hehe, well I for one don't have any money invested in mining. I don't have any money to spare, for that matter. Running a one-man business is a costly affair.

But you know, there might not be a whole lot of notum mining going on if the aliens win - but we'll be dead. (Unless the aliens mine it, but it's still a moot point for us all, including nanomages..)
And while I have no fear of death (well, not beyond that it is an unknown, anyway) I really would prefer to remain alive a little longer than the aliens seem to plan for.
I have some nice friends, whose kids are growing up and I also think they should have a chance at life. And if that means temporarily cooperating with ommers, then so be it. Btw, I have found both ommers and neuts quite willing to cooperate on an unofficial level when it comes to hunting criminals like stimrunners and gangsters, it happens every day. Regardless of what some top tier desk pilot says.
