I got a couple of questsion on how things work:

answer without speculating are question 2 and 3.
you cant really force missions but you can take note where you spawned grey cave missions since these have 30 mobs max and are thus pretty short.
if you note the general region and pick missions around there, you have a high chance of getting another small mission.
that is why clon**** is/was so popular.
perception is important if you want to equip one of the new crit scopes (but can be buffed with adv and fix buffs), is important for detection checks vs concealed people (interesting for pvpers) and for trap disarm (first step of avoiding a trap is to know its there :) if you perform an active search from the option menu and your perception is high enough, trapped chests and doors will be highlighted).
about team level there have been alot of speculations but as far as i know never a concrete and conclusive answer :)
I'm asking the question about perception, because there are a lot of rumours that a higher perception gives you better loot.
I have however nowhere found that confirmed.
Any info on that?
"if you perform an active search from the option menu"
i'm not sure I follow you... if you do what?
About the missions. Somehow our team ends up doing BS missions only :(
Some are very big, others are just 20min. Any way to help getting the 20min ones?
anyone?
mission duration tends to reflect the relative size of a mission, and it seems to be more accurate with certain mission types than with others. a 7 hour or less repair mission tends to be short more often than not, but i've also seen 14 hour find-item missions that were 5-6% per mob, and 5 hour hits that were .5% per mob.
in general though, you can kind of gauge a mission's size by the amount of time you are given to complete it.
With good perception you can see what lvl mobs are, and not only 'Alot higher than you'.
The highest mob i have perecepted so far is 272.
but what's the story on perception and loot?
no story, no connection. I have never heard of it, and have played since beta.
Team level (not sure 100% now but it used to)
small XP bonus per team level
small off/deff bonus per team level
See Xeni's posts on what perception does.
*side note: are you thinking of the new B&E bonus to missions that are applied now? the % richness factor?
See Hashy on his posts regarding mission size.
A lot of that has to do with a patient team too. One that's will to go nope, I want a smaller one. Last night I was in a great team that ditched anything over 50 mob team missions, took a little longer to pull more each time, but we'd fly through the ones we had =)
